I live in western CT and I am fresh here... as of like a month ago. I used to live in Western MA and grew up there. Change is not my forte so this is all new. My son is five years old. We escaped an abusive relationship with my sons father. The trauma is still something we as a family are working on. I suffer from PTSD from the abuse from my sons father and my ex-step father as a child. For the first five years of my sons life we were in survival mode. I had him when I was sixteen, I turned seventeen a month after he was born.
Now living where I do with my fiance I am trying to turn surviving into thriving. I am now a SAHM even though my son goes to school all day. It just worked out like that. I sometimes feel lazy then I realize I do all the crap that used to distract me from my son before he even gets home.
Our family consists of Myself, my son Jack, my fiance Zak and our little horde of animals. I try to rescue animals when I can. We have two dogs, both pit bulls, and two cats. One of my cats has seizures and cant use his legs very well. so we are a happy misfit family.
We live in a in-law apartment. The house upstairs has 3 kids all around my sons age. Its amazing to let my son run outside and play with other kids.
I stumbled upon this website while I was researching ways to help my youngest dog with her separation anxiety. I loved all of the positive feedback. A lot of my experience that I have had with mothering websites have been judging and negative. I am just looking for a place to help me become the mother I have always wanted to be :]
