I'm a new member to the site and I look forward to getting to know you all a little better and also having a place to give and receive support.
I'm 28 with an almost 3 year old son. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago, but have virtually no symptoms other than the actual cysts on my ovaries and irregular periods. I also had some minor issues with weight, but that has been controlled with a healthy diet, some exercise, and Metformin.
My first pregnancy went perfectly. Seriously. No issues whatsoever. I got pregnant in 2 months, never felt sick, and loved everything about being pregnant. I gave birth at 38 weeks to a healthy 6 lb 7.5 oz little boy. He came early after the shock of a tragic death in my family. Likely the stress brought on labor.
My second (and current) pregnancy has been very different. I started off weighing 148 lbs (very slightly overweight) at 5' 4" tall. Again, it took only 2 months to get pregnant, and I actually got pregnant during a month that I missed my period. I ovulated that month without a period. Surprise! I'm now 14 weeks (today) and the nausea just came to an end. YAY! I'm down to 146 lbs, so within the healthy range for someone who is not pregnant. That is due to the fact that I've been super nauseous and my appetite has decreased dramatically.
Whelp, today I found out I have gestational diabetes. UGH. I feel like a failure. My only risk factors were that I'm over 25 (28) and I have PCOS. This is what brought me to this site. I'm just feeling totally bummed out and not sure what to do with these feelings.
Thanks for reading,
