I've had quite a range of birth experiences. (no meds more than pitocin, demerol) my ds in 9 hours, in hospital, pitocin, episiotomy.
dd in a birth center with a midwife in just under 2 hours-start to finish!
and dd2 OMG....a miserable experience! long labor, 16+ hours of pitocin (upped ever 20 minutes) I walked, bounced on the ball, showered until I was out of my mind in pain. totally efaced, dialated...nothing! long story short, the doctor was called, took all my jewelry off to do c-section. doctor has one last look and decides that membranes are bulging, lets just rupture them (I came to the hospital with ruptured water)????? the are getting gurney and paperwork and i say....she's coming out of me! I felt her "pop" down, he looks...we are having this baby now! (duh)
afterward i felt so shell shocked and disappointed! traumatized! angry! i had hoped to have the midwife in the office deliver her (she was the one on call when i got there) only to have her visit the next day to say hi blah blah....she says...yes, she saw the bulging membranes but the doctor on call was in surgery! i had been in excrutiating pain, mega pitocin all day because of a doctors schedule!
i have to say i had no idea what being in pain for an extended period of time does to your mind! if i was to have another baby i'd have the epidural! (and a new doctor)
i totally know how you could feel like that!
