I joined many months ago when I was still pregnant with my first, but I think I posted once. Now that I'm expecting a second, I thought I'd check it out again.
I'm Val, 26. I've been married to Scott, 34, for just over a year. We "anticipated the wedding night" and our daughter was born a shocking 5.5 months after the wedding (on her due date thanks to several natural induction methods, Oct. 6, 2006). We weren't planning to have another baby until she was at least 2, but guess what happens when you're not using birth control, condoms, NFP, or even pull and pray? Believe it or not, we were actually surprised. Best Father's Day present Scott could ever get, though. The new baby is due Feb. 20. Mary will be 16.5 months old and I'm a bit freaked out at the prospect. People have stopped making comments about our dogs (five of them) and not being able to handle child-rearing. I was glad for that.
We're pretty far on the natural side compared to general society, I suppose. I'm still breastfeeding and until very recently we were co-sleeping (she sleeps better in her own space... I think we were waking her up). I'm seeing a midwife again and planning another homebirth. The first didn't happen that way. I came up severely anemic shortly before I went into labour and the midwives wouldn't let me (and weren't allowed to) go at home. Recent blood tests show I actually have a high iron count this time, so I'm crossing my fingers. We are trying to figure out how to move to Vancouver Island to be closer to family. My midwife here will refer me to one there, but if I can't get in I might consider going uc... have to convince the husband first!
