I'm thinking of asking my dh about this for our two oldest girls since they are in K and 1st grade this year, I really like what I saw and if he says that we can get it payday then I'll do the 3 day trial tomorrow (he gets paid Friday lol so the trial will do us and then I can subscribe the day after the 3 day trial) But I was looking at it, and it says that the homeschool subscription offers a solo for one kid and then the regular one for up to 3 kids. Well that's all fine and dandy, but I have 4 kids and when my youngest starts K and wants to do jr. my oldest will be in 4th grade (maybe 5th depending on when we start teaching our youngest since we use a k12 academy and her birthday is 3 weeks before the cutoff date for K in our state) Would I need to do a 3 kid subscription AND a solo also so that all 4 of my kids can do the program? How would that work? Would I just be able to contact them and get my account tweaked so that 4 kids could do it? Would they even do that?
I swear, EVERYTHING in this world seems to be set up for the stupid stereotype "perfect" family of 2 or 3 kids, and they make life difficult for those of us who don't fit inside THEIR box. (sorry, I had a rough weekend with some nasty remarks about having too many kids and people asking us rudely if we know what birth control is)
My kids like it and I don't mind a little computer fun on a rainy/sick day. Check your local library though before pay for it. Our library has a link on their website that allows us free access to both Brain Pop and Brain Pop Jr.

I'm going to have to look into that with our library's site. Our local library was one that offered rosetta stone free to patrons, so I will have to definitely look into it. That $115 for Jr. for my girls is a bit of money for us, we'd have to pull it from our savings and then put it back a little at a time before we started saving for it to renew.

Oh, I wouldn't dip into savings for Brain Pop. Your kids are little and there are terrific sites for younger ones. I know several threads have been started about websites for children.
I wouldn't bother with BrainPopJr, either. We love BrainPop, though. We've done a couple free trials (my email, then dh's some time later). I think you just want to do a family subscription, not a homeschool one. Unless your kids each have a computer and would want to be logged on at the same time, doing different things.
ETA I see they changed their subscription terms a little. Homeschool solo is the same as Family. I think the Homeschool Access if for coops or something... You don't need it unless all your kids are planning on doing their own thing at the same time.
Like 4evermom says, you would only need a Solo or a Family subscription most likely. With one of these you can have one family log in to BrainPop, BrainPoPJr, and even BrainPop en Espanol!
So unless you have several computers in your home and you think your kids will all want to log in at the same time and do different activities, you will only need a Solo/Family sub.

I have no idea about brainpop -- what is it ?? is it fun?
but i HAD to comment on the rude people. I hope you told them "birth control you mean maing my own birth choices, or do you mean birthcontrol as in trying to birth slow enough for the midwife to arrive?" and gave them a very confused look.
or "of course we know all about charting and natrual family pnanning -- that is how we have intentionally concieved each of them" or something else just as smarta%% ... i am a big one for confronting stupid / rude people ...
my dear momma freind here jsut had child 8 adn 9 (twins
) and ohhhh the comments .... i am so sorry for THAT .. 4 kids is a SMALL family
we have brainpopjr and my kids absolutely love it (ages 8 & 5). this is our 3rd year using it. it's perfect for grades k-2, and i love all of the extra stuff available at the website too. i've never paid the full subscription at once (although it's cheaper), instead i've always let them deduct monthly from our bank account...if i remember correctly, it's about $7 month. next year, i'll use brainpop instead of the junior version though.
also, some states give homeschoolers access to discovery united streaming, so that might be worth checking into as well. i live in SC, and we have free access - we really love that too & use it daily!
Brainpop Jr. was a waste of money for us. I want to use it, but I guess it's not our style. Perhaps I'd enjoy the regular Brainpop more in a few years.

angela, that really stinks the junior version didn't work for you all. i really hate wasting money. you can try the main brainpop for 3 days for free too, so be sure to check it out first, that way nothing is wasted if satori doesn't like it.

My response to them was to ask them if they knew what manners were, while giving them "the look". I can wither the touchiest of old ladies with the look when I'm pregnant or have a new baby when they come touching things that don't need touching (meaning belly and new baby) so I have that look down to an art. It works on rude people too, better than it does on my own kids. Of course, I'm also that crazy lady with purple hair who let her 6yo choose a goth cheerleader outfit with a fake lip ring for her halloween costume, so I don't follow the normal flow of things anyway lol
Thanks for this thread! I'm sort of investigating HS for my DD, but in the meantime, looking for fun and challenging supplemental stuff I can do with her, so we signed up for a 5 day trial. She loved the unit she did this afternoon, and did a second one without even letting me know she was going to. It's a definite hit with her!

well, both have animated videos for learning & both offer quizzes and additional materials. with brainpop, you can just watch the videos, while T4L requires that you complete the quizzes to count a lesson as done (but if you choose not to complete it, you can still move forward). both sites have additional materials that you can use with each lesson though. imo, T4L is more comprehensive, but they claim to be a curriculum (but we only used it as a supplement). T4L has sequenced lessons that are grade specific & build upon each other. brainpojr also has a way you can incorporate videos to meet state standards though.
imo, T4L is fairly comprehensive with phonics & math, but their other subjects (while good) are not enough as a stand alone. i've used both programs & we really liked both. for us, it was about price though, so we got rid of T4L last year. also, T4L requires a lot more learning on the computer than brainpopjr, which is something you need to consider. T4L is good though & you can try it for free...so perhaps sign up for the free trial with both programs and compare them, ykwim?
ETA - on a side note,....with T4L, my dd was in first grade last year and i registered her as a 2nd grader. they give you access to the grade below and the grade above, so we had access to more science and social studies videos that way. hth.
