Our DS is only 2.5 but I'm already thinking ahead about his education.

I have no problems with home schooling but DH does, mainly, I think becaseu he has preconceived notins about it and/or knows very little about modern day homeschooling.

I would love to hear personal experiences, methods, results, etc and any links you think you be beneficial for himto read.

Honestly, I think the best thing for you to do is to read as many of the threads on this forum as you can. I'm sure others will chime in with book recommendations, but I have learned more from reading posts than I have from any of the books I have read.

Yeah, definitely read way, way back in this whole forum. It's so packed with information & inspiration! Also, just start checking out every homeschool related book your library carries, hoemschool family blogs, and, you could also just Google "homeschooling" & probably find enough info to keep you entertained for years on end!

As for books that discuss public schooling today & why you might not want to use the public school system, you could check out Dumbing Down our Kids and Dumbing us Down for starters. I see Amazon has several other related books listed as well.

Good luck with all your research! :

If you've got a dh that requires convincing, then starting early is a very good thing Do we still have the list of hs blogs stickied up on the board here somewhere? (can't see it while posting and didnt' think to check!) Some of those might be great for showing him what every day homeschoolers do these days and how often we are not at home but are out doing awesome stuff

I homeschooled as a kid, and had a good experience with it. My mother and father were just not to happy with mainstream education and we lived a bit out of town, so we homeschooled. It certainly has its ups and downs. I have gone between homeschooling and sending my kids to school because I want a fair medium.

Good Luck,

Haha...don't worry....I'd swear it seems that half of the husbands on here were wary at first. that's what I did!!!

Welcome to the Real World she said to me, condescendingly, take a seat. Take your life; plot it out in black and white.
