Thank goodness that it seems like things are being resolved in your favour! I'm so sorry that you and your family had to put up with this crap in the first place.

I'm glad this is wrapping up in your favor but I'm so angry that this happened in the first place and for the stereotyping and bigotry exhibited by CPS in your case.

She also said that we were the first family she had ever worked with that the state wasn't mandating parenting classes, again on and on about how good we our with our girls.
Which leads me to believe they usually work with abusive/neglectful parents. Who may or may not homeschool. I wonder how many non-homeschooling parents they've worked with that weren't abusing their kids -- I'd venture to guess it's been only a few! I hate stereotypes like that, I really do...

Anyway, I'm glad you're in a good place right now, though I wish they'd just close that case out & find better things to do with their resources.

I'm sorry you've had to go through this ordeal. Please let us know when/how CPS finally closes your case. I've read this all along totally mortified by what CPS has done.

Created an instant family (7/89 and 5/91) in 1997. Made a baby boy 12/05 adopted a baby girl 8/08. Ask me about tandem adoptive nursing. Now living as gluten, dairy, cane sugar, and tomato free vegetarians. Homeschooling and loving it.

How nice that they put your family through heck based on a stereotype...and really, given how they treated you, it really makes you wonder what their definition of "abusive homeschool family" really is. Scary. But I am really glad things seem to be wrapping up in your favor! I hope in a few months you never see hide nor hair of them again!

It's been just over a year since our case was opened. Last Thanksgiving was held with such fear and hurt in my heart. Where we are now: CPS closed our case in October. At the final meeting with the continuing case worker we had been assigned in July (who was very sane and reasonable), she told us that the investigative CPS worker (who had been responsible for taking us to court and trying to get us to stop homeschooling) had been fired. One of the reasons was inaccuracy in her reporting and she said that we had been victims of that and apologized that we had gotten swept up in something that should have never been taken to court and likely should have been handled by the hospital without CPS involvement.

I just wanted to let you all know. The support I received here was key - having a place to vent and people to be sympathetic to me was so soothing. This was a nightmare from beginning to end. And to make things more painful - my daughter's chronic illness flared up again this fall - five ER visits, IV meds, one hospital admission before the case was closed and the CPS worker said we handled things perfectly. My anxiety has been an issue. Show me a mom with a chronically ill child who is never anxious. But it was an issue that was not harming my children - I was in therapy to ensure that.

Anyway. It is over. It seems to be gone without a trace, except for the pain of having all my emotional baggage dragged into the open and being accused of being a poor mother. But my girls are happy and healthy (mostly) and homeschooling and smart and social. And we made it through. Thanks for your support.

Thank goodness!  Such a traumatic experience...  I'm glad to hear the original caseworker was fired and it was admitted that your case should never have been a case.  I hope that is helping give you a sense of closure though I know the effects of the experience aren't going to disappear...

This is wonderful! So glad this is all over for you and your family.

Since the CPS admitted their fault, is this something you can seek compensation for? You lived through such a nightmare, for no reason what-so-ever.

I'm glad to see this is finally over and done with.  Seriously.  And if you feel that you got SOMEthing beneficial out of the therapy--then great... at least there was some semblance of silver lining to this nightmare.

Thank goodness it's over!!!
