One thing I do every year is to grow a real green grass Easter basket. It's easy. Per child you need 1 inexpensive shallow basket, plastic to line it, some potting soil, and a handful of wheat seed. Together we line the basket, load in 2" of soil, pat the seeds in, and water just a bit. Keep indoors, sprinkle water on now & again, and watch the seeds sprout!

You want to start 3-4 weeks before Easter. The children can give the grass a "haircut" if it gets too long. You want a thick layer of seed. I find it at my local local farm & ranch store (call around) and beg a handful of seed. Or, get some friends/playgroup/church together and buy a 5 lb bag.

Real grass can't be beat, the kids love it, it's so natural, far beyond the plastic green stuff. The eggs look terrific sitting in it Easter morning. (We have a separate basket for jelly beans etc.)

After Easter when the grass dies down due to root binding, I compost it. (Don't water too much -- no drainage through the plastic.)

Last year we did a craft with 12 easter eggs, an empty egg carton, 12 bible verses that explain the EAster story, and 12 objects to represent them. We wrote the bible verses down and matched them with the correct object and pt them in the eggs. 12 days prior to Easter we opened one egg, read the verse, and had a discssion about it. I can't remember the name, but there are many instructions and ideas online!
