Hi there. I am homeschooling my two LOs. My ds, nearly 8, has some special needs and that is a big part of why we decided to homeschooling. We've been mostly unschooling but have realized that ds really loves educational computer games. He's between 1 to 2 years behind in the JumpStart games (doing a combo of first and second grade games with K thrown in every now and again). He also loves his Leapster and Didj and again is doing mostly first grade work there. He seems to be really asking for more education instruction online and I'd love to be able to get a firmer grasp as to what he is learning. He is very resistant to any learning from me directly (where as his sister thrives on the one on one with me) and would love to provide him with another learning outlet. Any recommendations?

www.lessonpathways.com might be a place to start to get ideas of sites he might like.

Looking for "interactive sites" here or by the kind of sn might be a good start: http://www.homeschooldiner.com/

www.readingeggs.com for reading (pay, but can get a free trial)

In the younger grades, time4learning seems more "game-like" (pay with short free trial)

Singapore math has game cds: Rainbow Rock is the younger one (the system requirements are for older computers)

The yahoogroup: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/allkin...sec=dir&slk=20

is a very active group with lots of links and learning ideas, many focused on sn kids...all ages levels.

Starfall, of course.

google "clickschooling" and subscribe to that newsletter

and one more:

Here's a good place to start: http://www.internet4classrooms.com/index.htm

Thank you so much! This is a great start and we have an older computer so the singapore math might work for us. Yeah!
