How long have you been homeschooling?

Three weeks

How old are your children?

5 and 3. The 3-year-old is in preschool.

What grades would they be in?

Kindergarten

Describe your homeschooling style in 5 words or less:

Eclectic.

What's your favorite book or piece of curriculum that you have for this year?

Einsterns Schwester 1. It's a first-grade German curriculum for native speakers. In things that would be useful to a broader range of people, Math Mammoth is a very good fit for my daughter right now, although I prefer Miquon and MEP myself. I do have to meet her where she is, though!

Soccer, German Saturday morning school, co-op one morning a week.

how long have you been homeschooling?
Our 5th year if you don't count before kindergarten. The kids have never been to school

How old are your children?
Dd is 10, ds is 7

What grades would they be in?
5 and 2 I think...I never pay attention to grade levels!

Homeschooling style...
Unschooling, not quite radically though.

Favorite books or piece of curriculum
Usbourne internet linked books (atlas/encyclopedia style) in history, science, geography, and their english guides to spelling, punctuation, and grammer. The internet links are fantastic as with visual-spatial learners we are heavy computer users here. Our Canadian Girl series for dd.

Outside activities
Girl guides for dd, still trying to find something for ds as his speech issues and some lagging fine motor skills like writing make it hard for him to do something without me being there. Homeschool group. Homeschool gymnastics drop in once a month. Dd and I are about to become soup kitchen volunteers.

Tina, RN, wife-y to J, mom to dd (10) and ds (7)

How long have you been homeschooling? 12 years, since my oldest was 3
How old are your children? 15, 11, 8, 6, 3, 1 and due in December with our 7th and last.
What grades would they be in? 10th, 6th, 3rd, 1st.
Describe your homeschooling style in 5 words or less: Eclectic, relaxed, experiential, unschoolish, delight-driven.
What's your favorite book or piece of curriculum that you have for this year? Loving History Odyssey. Using it for our three school age daughters (DS has already finished every bit, and was sad to see the end of it!), and it's amazingly comprehensive, without being too boring for them!
What outside activities are your children doing this year? Our oldest 4 do swim team. We go to a homeschool co-op weekly, and 11DD, 8DD and 6DD do girl guides. Other than that, we goof off around here, hang out with each other and the animals, and spend a lot of time doing things around home and town with friends and neighbours. They participate in various clubs, but none that meet on a super frequent basis.

I would never have expected Nova Scotia to be that way! Totally did not see that one coming!
Funny how it is different all over Canada! In Manitoba, compulsory school age (and the age you must register as a homeschooler by) is 7.
