My daughter is expecting several medical procedures over this coming school year, plus she goes to MANY appointments each week. Also, she is having surgery in the middle of November, unless they can get a cancellation, then they'll move her up.
My concern is in attendance/hours. Mondays and Thursdays she has appointments from 10-11 am. Tuesdays she'll be going out of town for a one-hour tutoring through K12. Fridays are clubs, but from what I understand, club time is NOT considered part of the required 6 hours per day.
(Am I wrong on that part?????)
Okay, all that said, my question is about getting her hours in BUT ALSO about the 2 weeks' recovery time for surgery.
1) Let's start with surgery. The surgeon said he will give her a 2-week school excuse. Do you think this will be acceptable towards the 180 days expected from K12 online? OR do you think they'll expect that to be made-up elsewhere, considering the fact that they allow 7 days/week? I don't want to screw-up Thanksgiving holiday, just b/c she needs time for surgery.
2) Second question, are these HOURS. Do you think I can work this in to her IEP? (Yes, she does have one, but at public school, she still got 6 hours/day at school.)
Thanks in advance for your advice on this. I don't want her to miss all her chances to get outside the house. Now, if you think the work is 'easy' enough that we could fit 6 hours' worth of work into 5 hours/day, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm concerned.
What grade is she in?
I think you can log the club time under supplemental. The rest... I don't know except that you could try to "get ahead" as much as possible before hand. Take things that could be done in the waiting room to appts if she feels able. Sorry she is having to good thru all that.
