Simple Relationships

Stop everything, make eye contact, and listen.  this is a reminder I'm working on.

I really enjoyed the Seasonal Activities article.  I need reminders and help with finding a yearly rhythm for my family.  We will be using the "sit spot" suggestion more and more as the weather warms up!

Trying to keep staying at home with my DDs: 11/95, 06/06, and 04/08. Married to my soulmate.
Got to admit it's getting better, getting better all the time.

I am inspired by "Clean the house in ten minute bursts"  Along these lines I have a "2 song tidy" putting on two songs that are really upbeat and happy and just tidy for that length of time :) It's great to see what you can do in those two songs!

"Spend one-on-one time with the people you love best" Something I should do more of.

"Seek out mentoring relationships" Something I hope to become better at as my child grows.

We cloth diaper, co-sleep, have a great garden, use cloth napkins, have tried to get rid of plastic, use mama cloth, buy in bulk & organic etc etc.. I love natural, healthy living :)

"Collect a dozen things you no longer need or use to give away."

I love this tip, and have been able to enact it using a yahoo group called freecycle. Unwanted items that might normally end up in a landfill are posted online to be given away to someone who will use them.  I've also received lots of great stuff this way, reducing my need to purchase items new, which usually packs a much larger carbon footprint than reusing something.

That list was had so many great ideas! I just planted my garden and I will have to save the seeds for next year. I also loved the idea to keep a sanctuary that is always clean and to clean the rest of the house in ten minute bursts.

I am a fan of Oak Meadow and Mothering on FB. I love all of the ideas for simple living. We do a majority of them, but I think this list is a great reminder for when life gets hectic and I begin to lose the simplicity and rhythm that I strive to maintain.

We try to use cloth products instead of disposable. We now use cloth diapers, wipes, un-paper towels, and mama cloth to name a few. I knit wool diaper covers and we try to repurpose as much as possible.

We already do many of these, but could certainly stand to add a sanctuary spot to our home.

I love the idea of cleaning in 10 minute bursts. We get so overwhelmed sometimes with the cleaning.

We're learning to sew and patch clothing around here.  Also working on taking lots of walks together as a family and sharing our questions/finding out their answers!

I love all of those!! We try to do a lot. I like the idea of making learning about wonder and making lifelong learners. It's what I do with my son and try to do with my tutoring students!!
