We decided on the cyber charter for dd (1st grade) and I have to fill out a form because I am using the exemption for vaccines. We are in PA, where it can be for a religious or ethical reason, but they are asking for me to write the reason out.
Will I sound like a smart a$$ if I just write: "I object to fully vaccinating based on ethical convictions." or similar? I don't believe that I am legally required to give them an exact reason? We have done some vaccines, nearly all when she was less than 1 year, but one tetanus in the last couple of years as well, if that matters.
I need to send it in tomorrow, so I'd love a quick response if anyone has done this!
Probably too late. I'm guessing that for future vaccine-exemption questions, I would post in I'm Not Vaccinating for a faster response.
Anyway, the wording sounds good to me, though I know some places make it difficult if you have partially vaccinated. Not snarky. I don't think you need to go into the details, but I'm not an expert.
And perhaps an update?
Thanks anyway :) I did search in the vax forum later, but didn't find much.
I ended up writing "I have a strong ethical objection to the recommended vaccines and schedule." (PA law states that a religious exemption also includes moral and ethical objections that are similar to a religious belief.)
The school nurse just wrote back that she got it and that was it, so I'm assuming no issue?
As I said, I'm not sure that I am legally obligated to give a reason at all beyond that I have the ethical objection, so I decided to keep it simple :)
