Have your friends given you any feedback? I sent my prologue to a friend who doesn't like it but hasn't filled me in on why. Sigh.

I hate winter. Maybe now that spring is here I can be more productive Take the kids to a playground and sit on the grass editing or something

Shannon, that is really cool how far you got on it!!

I totally blew the opportunity. Too many things happened in Nov to continue writing.

I am going to try it this year. I am going to take the time to come up with genre, characters, and basic plot ideas.

I, too, hate winter and I am happy that Spring is coming.....although it has been snowing again

Shannon, my friends didn't give me any specific feedback. They just said they liked it. That's why I think I need an editor who can dig in and tell me specifically what isn't working.

I might be able to do that now that it's been sitting. I have huge resistance because i often overwork and ruin things trying to fix them.

Spring is wonderful. I still have a winter hangover-- hopefully soon be energetic again. Good luck with your editing.

Emmama, good luck with this year. I know a lot of people on the nano forums said they planned their novel throughout the year and thought about it.

50,000 words sounds mighty, but wow, what an opportunity for one long, soul searching freewrite! I did Nanowrimo 2 years ago--albeit it was before the baby--but I would recommend, regardless of your time constraints. Maybe you won't make it to 50,000 words. So what? You'll get something down during those down moments. One hour a day of stream of consciousness writing (no stopping to edit or reread, just go go go) will get you to 50,000 words in 30 days.
Many Nanowrimo communities pop up regionally. Hook into a local group, where there is often a kick-off party to get you motivated.
