Moms, I love love love that homeschooling allows me to sleep later in the mornings! It's probably the #1 perk for me. Mostly because I don't sleep well at night, I have mild insomnia and for years until we pulled dd out of school, I had to get up early.

Still, I know a few homeschoolers who do choose to get up early.

Just wondering how late others are sleeping.

I get up at 8, which is when my dh leaves for work. The little kids get up at 7, so I get up to be with them.

Namaste!

I get up at 7, but only because I have to get Maddie on the bus. Lots of times I go back to sleep though because I'm usually up until 1 or 2AM.

On days with no school I sleep until about 9.

We get up between 8 and 9 too. I also suffer from insomnia and I'm noticing that my older son is showing tendencies for that as well.

6am. Not by my choice though... my kids are early birds just like their daddy. I would rather sleep until noon

My little dancing banana wakes up between 6 and 7am, so that means I have to get up too. My oldest sleeps until 8 or 8:30. I am hoping both sleep in a bit as they get older.

We are up between 7 and 7:30. I would love to push until 8, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

It varies depending on what we have planned for the day. Usually we are not up until 10 am at the earliest, and noon at the latest. If we have something we need to do (appointments, meetings, etc) we get up at whatever time is needed.

I try and be up between 8-8:30, gives me so much more daylight especially now that the sun is setting so early.

The "Boo alarm" won't let me sleep past 6:30am most days. During our public school days I used to joke that she'd only sleep in during the week. On weekends, when nobody *had* to be up, she'd be awake at the crack of dawn.

If she'd let me I could easily go until 8 or 8:30am. Especially in the winter when the covers are sooooo nice and cozy. D gets up anywhere from 7am to 9am. He's more than capable of getting his own breakfast and amusing himself so I never have to get up for him anymore.

I'm usually up by 7:30, the little one is my alarm. My oldest wakes up at 6 and Dusty wakes up about 8:30. I remember the days when I used to be able to go to bed around 3 am and get up around 10. I really miss those days.

When my kids were little and my oldest was in K & 1st, we slept in until about 9-10am at the latest.

Now my kids naturally get up between 7am-9am. I get up early, around 6:30am, because I do daycare and have schoolagers arriving between 7am-8am.

Pre-hubby working graveyard shift we were up about 10-11am since the kids would go to bed around 11pm-midnight and hubby and I would head to bed by 2am.

Now, however, the hubby is working 12 hour graveyard shifts 7p-7a so the whole family adjusted our schedules to match. The kids go to sleep around 4am and get up about 1-2pm, I go to bed by 6am and I'm up by 2pm most days, and hubby goes to bed around 8-9am and sleeps until 4-5pm. We give new meaning to "Night Owls".

His boss was worried about him volunteering to cover the late shift while they train another guy but he told her "Hey my kids are homeschooled, my wife works from home, I get to see them whenever I want!" One of the perks of homeschooling, you can live by whatever schedule works for you.

I've been trying to get up around 7:30 to have some alone time. The baby sometimes gets up with me but goes down for a nap an hour later. Tania sleeps til 11:00 on some mornings. She stays up pretty late.

Depends on when Little Miss decides the day is going to begin. Usually between 6:30 and 7:30 (if she wakes any earlier than 6:30 I make DH spend time with her till he leaves for work at 6:30 LOL).

My DS on the other hand will usually sleep in till 8 or 8:30...<sigh> I miss sleeping in!

Whenever my boys wake up. I hate sleeping in, I just feel like I've wasted the day if I wake any later than 7...but they tend to wake up around 7:30-8 and since they sleep with us I can't have an alarm on... We're trying to get switched to dh's swing shift schedule anyways though so I need to get used to staying up late and sleeping late.

Between 8:30 and 9:00 for me, sometimes 10am. : We stay up late, my older girl usually sleeps another hour or more, not always. My younger girl either makes me get up, or goes back to sleep for maybe a half hour/hour after I have risen. I'm a middle insomniac, early mornings mean no sleep for me, pretty much. We love living life in our own rhythm. Like Unschoolnma said, when we have stuff on our schedule that requires earlier rising, we do.

Generally my kids get up between 8 and 9, myself about an hour earlier.

My eldest has always marched to her own drummer. From age 4 to about 10, she stayed up late reading in bed, and slept in accordingly to 10 or later. Around her 11th birthday she embarked on some sort of self-improvement program or something and tried to get up between 5 and 7. Now, on the cusp of teendom, she's slipped back to her night-owl habits. She's awake until 3 or later reading, and sometimes sleeps past noon.

Depends on how late we stay up the night before. We generally go to bed around 10-12 but often watch movies or read in bed til the wee hours. I would say, on average, in the winter we get up around 8-10. In the summer, we get up between 9-11. We tend to stay up later in summer, which explains the difference.

ETA: I read somewhere, a long time ago, that teens need to go to bed later and sleep later than expected...something about their circadian rhythms changing...???

I almost always wake up between 4 and 5. Sometimes I can sleep til 6. I cannot seem to train myself out of this. Sometimes I can go back to sleep and/or take a nap later. Ds usually gets up between 7 and 8, dd around that time too. The baby is our wildcard sleeper--sometimes he's up at dawn, sometimes not until 10 or 11. Dh, of course, gets up promptly at 6:30 (much anger ensues if he is disturbed earlier) to go to work.

At 55 yrs of age, 7 kids later, with 3 still living at home, 2 still in my bed, I arise at 7 AM long enough to make sure that the one daughter who needs to be down the road by 7:30, is up and going. Then other daughter and I cozy up to one another for at least another 3 hrs of sweet dreams. Guess the next question is, how LATE do we all stay up at night? For us, it is anywhere from 11 PM until 2 AM!:
