I just wondered if anyone has some cool plans for summer. I am thinking mainly day trips or short weekend get aways to cool spots. Throw out your best ideas!!!

I will be 6 or so months pregnant, so not tons of hiking.

dp is giving a paper, so we're all headed to Boston. dd1 still talks about the trip we took there when she was 2.5. Now dd2 is 2.5, so dd1 insisted we have to go.

dp showing off her smarts will get part of the trip paid!

Boston is such a neat place to visit!

I love camping though if we do camp this year, I want a cabin.

We have planned a trip to Kentucky to visit family. The girls are in a wedding.

I also have a trip to the Westchester area of NY for a conference (I am presenting at) so we will explore that area.

Otherwise, i would like to picnic and swim.

We live in Moscow, Russia and will be taking the train June1 to the small coastal town in Finland where my son was born. We had traveled there for his birth (Russian hospitals are dreadful) and spent last summer.

We are so excited. My kids will be free!!!! No scary drivers (in Moscow people drive the sidewalks), no bad pollution. Just fresh air, sunshine, fish, and the sea!

We'll be there all summer--childhood the way it is supposeed to be!

Happy mom to DS2000, DS2002, DD2004, DS2006 and DS 10/2009:

Its the 400th anniversary of Jamestown...we plan to go there.

I really look forward to when my sons are old enough to appreciate a trip to Boston and Philadelphia.

Last summer I had a weekly schedule, each day of the week we'd do something different

-hiking day
-beach day
-park day
-puppet theater day
-playgroup day
-library day
-field trip day (zoo, museum, etc.)

We also usually take several road trips and do lots of camping in the warm months.

We will have some guests but in September, we're going to Crete. I'm so excited I can hardly breathe when I think about it!

We plan on doing lots of day trips. There are a few families in the neighborhood with kids CJ's age so we'll always have company. I'll probably be taking the train into Boston a couple times. A few big trips coming are a trip to D.C. at the end of April and there is a small possibility of us going to Switzerland. My BIL will be there for work so we might go out and visit. Too bad our 2 year old might not remember any of it!

Swim lessons take up a lot of time in the summer. I'm also crossing my fingers for a trip to Phuket.

We're going to Chicago in the beginning of May, I grew up there and we're visiting my dad. I wanted to go before schools are out, so we can avoid museum crowds. We also want to drive down to the Redwoods (from Oregon) at some point, but dh won't let me schedule and reserve a campsite which makes me think it probably won't happen.

We are heading to Tulum in May for two weeks of R&R (and exploring ancient ruins!). Then in June we'll probably spend some time in DC and Williamsburg/Jamestown to finish off our studies of early US history.

In July we head out to Blacksburg, VA for the annual UU summer institute ("church camp" with a UU twist LOL) for a week.

After that we will probably head out to California for a couple of weeks in August to see family.

In between ds will do a summer camp in cartooning, and ds2 will do one on dinosaurs. Both will attend our local UU day camp for two weeks. Other than that, we will spend LOTS of time at our gym's pool and with our friends in our neighborhood... lemonade stands and all that jazz!

Mmmmm.... Phuket... take me take me!!!!!!!!

We will be doing some camping this summer. It will be DS first camping experience so I hope he enjoys it. We are also going to Wyoming to see my mom and other family. There will be a lot of small trip to town around here like Seattle and Portland. We may even go to canada for a weekend.
