I'm in Canada, but I have a friend in PA considering hs'ing. Is it an easy place to hs? Are there alot of hs'ers there? Homeschool groups and activities?

TIA!

I'm in PA and homeschooling, but in PA kids dont have to be in school until they're 8, so our kids are young enough that we don't have to do anything official yet. PA does have a reputation for being tougher, but there are plenty of people doing it. Where in PA is your friend?

Next year, we have to make one of our children an "official" homeschooler in PA and I'm *not looking forward to it. It doesn't seem particularly difficult, just a lot of unnecessary paperwork garbage that I wouldn't have to deal with if I lived 40 minutes east, in NJ!
We have a ton of homeschool organizations and activities in our area, but they're mostly geared toward kids who are older than mine.

The laws in PA are overwhelming to look at; By any measure, PA is considered the second most stringent state in which to homeschool. That said, there are so many flipping workarounds you wouldn't believe it, and there are LOADS of homeschoolers of every stripe to be found in most places.

We're reporting and hsing in PA for the first time. Honestly, it's not that bad, and there seem to be a lot of hsers around. The trick is finding an evaluator who is comfortable with your teaching style.

We're PA unschoolers, and I don't find it hard to homeschool in at all.
