Ds and I are really excited to hs this year - but dh is not supportive. We're having a very open and honest discussion about it and I'm hoping he'll be open to reading some info. on real life experiences. So far he is basing his support of public school for our kids on his own experience growing up in a country where his Grandparents made big sacrifices to get their grandkids access to public school and have educational opportunities they didn't have and couldn't provide for most of their kids growing up. For him choosing hsing equates total rejection of public school, which he views as a positive system of education. Our local schools are fairly good - we've enjoyed every teacher our son has had for the past 3 years but I'm thinking we could do even better - why not something more alternative - why not be educated by integrated learning inspired by your own passions and interests. My son is the one who is initially requesting hsing and has gotten me onboard. Here's hoping we'll get dad onboard too!
