Well I know I am losing it because I just THOUGHT of asking the question here!!

So I am pregnant with baby number two and after a bad first labor in which I agreed to be induced (naive!) I want something different! Big time Different!

So I asked my doctor how things work and how do I go about hiring a midwife....he had no idea. I have a phone call into the RHA and am awaiting a return phone call.

Can you girls PLEASE tell me how it works in Manitoba and how in the world I hook up with a midwife? I am 14wks pregnant right now please tell me I am not too late yet!

Check out www.canadiandoulas.com Under Locate a Birth Professional->Midwifery Support->Candian Midwives->Manitoba Midwives. It's definitely not too late to get into midwifery care! We found care at 14 weeks and had our first appointment at 16 weeks.

Where in Manitoba are you? We moved to Alberta from Manitoba 5 1/2 years ago.

Hi Carsonsmama,
Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. I looked up a few numbers for you to try....
midwifery services of winnipeg 940-2185
midwives association of manitoba 956-2651
mount carmel clinic midwifery services 589-9412

There are also midwives working out of Women's health clininc 947-1517

I do know that they book up really quickly, so you need to phone right away. Good luck!
