Hi everyone!
In an energized fit of WOHM single mom superparenting, I decided that my 16-month old daughter and I would visit one new place every weekend. I don't know Florida very well, and we're starting out in the Broward County area, but will take weekend trips whenever possible.
I'm doing a new place every weekend to carve out 'kid time' for Malena, get to know the area better, and have a better reference of great places to visit. When possible, I'd like to focus on eco-friendly places (I'm trying to get away from the SoFla construction and traffic when we can), but I'm open to anything - adventure parks, museums, movie nights, anything! (Plus, I don't know how realistic it is to limit myself to eco-tivities!)
So if anyone has any great places to visit in Florida that they can recommend, I'm going to keep a running list as a reference.
(Any if anyone wants to join us on a field trip - jump on in!)
So far, the places that I have in mind to visit are:
Camping in Ocala
St. Augustine
Wakulla Springs (I just saw a documentary, and it looked amazing)
Key West (never been!)
Canoeing in the Everglades
Next weekend we're doing Parrot Jungle or the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science. There's also an event at Morkikami at the end of the month I wanted to go to.
I'm also looking for kid-friendly day trips to Naples, Lakeland and Tampa. I recently drove up to Atlanta, and saw such pretty stuff out the window as I was driving by.
Any input & recommendations would be great.
Thanks!
Mary
