The picnic area has pavillions (first come first served, unless we want to reserve for a fee), playground, rustic bathrooms, and is near the lake. There are hiking trails, fishing, and a neat boulder field. Camping will be open for anyone feeling brave.
: Count us in. Will you all be bringing the DH/SOs? I think mine has to work, but if not I will bring him too. Are we doing bag lunch or pot luck? Everyone veggie?
I am not sure about my SO yet, but I am excited to go. We can always do potluck appetizers/desserts and bag lunches for the meal. My older one is picky eater so that works for me.
10 or 11 sounds good to me. packing main lunches and bringing munchies to share sounds good too. i'll make some sort of healthy baked something.
we're not completely veggie, but i lean that way, gabriel is pretty meat free by choice(despite the efforts of his "well meaning" relatives!!! grrr... "pizza is meat and you like that, don't you????" ack!), although, he's started eating some lately, when he decides to eat anything at all, that is. lol
i'll have to think if we have anything fun for the yard around here.
If you have the grill, I can supply a big box of Hatfield hotdogs!! My son's father works for Hatfield, so I always get stuff like that from him. We are not really red meat eaters, but we eat just about everything else. Hummus sounds really good too!! I can get some Pita chips to go with the veggies. I am still trying to think of a good dessert to bring. I might just do cookies so it is an easy finger food that doesn't need plates, etc. I think as well, I will bring a big italian pasta salad. I also have TONS of plastic silverware from my graduation party last summer. So I will supply that. Should we start a main list so no one doubles up?
No camping for us either. I am uncomfortable enough on a couch right now...lol. We should get a food list and rough head count too. 2 adults, 8 year old boy and 20 month girl from my family. As far as food goes, hot dogs (will a box of 40 be enough?), pasta salad, and cookies. I also have plastic silverware.
just the 3 of us will be comming. i'll bring a taco salad(i'll make it veggie with beans), i think. and i'll make some kind of muffins or cookies. i can grab a bag of hot dog buns too.
We're not sure on dh now, something about having to take down the Scranton Times sign.
But if he comes, we might camp. He'll try to talk me into it, anyway.
Foodwise, I'll probably bring hamburgers and fixings, and some kinda side dish, maybe a bean salad. And hummus and veggies. And maybe cookies, if that's not too much temptation for everyone. I resisted buying Easter candy, yay!
:
Weatherwise, things aren't looking so good. It's early yet so things may change, but it looks like showers.
Are we doing rain or shine? Anyone want to chicken out?
Anyone fish? DH would probably very much like to fish while we're there. So even if he comes you might not see him much.
So will anyone be eating hotdogs? I can still bring a little grill if there are people going to eat them. I also have some sausages for sausage sandwiches if that sounds more tempting. Is anyone else bowing out b/c of the rain?
Or alternately, does anyone have any suggestions for something interesting to do in the area indoors? I am quite bummed about not getting to see people this weekend, and I'll bet Hevyne really wants to get out and do something before she disappears into newborn babymooningness.
Sunday the weather is supposed to be better; I do not know if that works for anyone. I have a funeral that I was just informed about last night ( not that you can plan these things), so I will not be able to make it now. I am free during the week, but I am not sure if you guys work? I went to the Dr. yesterday and my hatch is still closed tight. I have been doing all this ripening stuff to get him out but looks like he wants to stay in for the long haul. So unless anyone has any good ideas to coax him out, I am still able to get out for a while.
oh bugger. it doesn't look so nice tomorrow. bethany is sick anyway, so not sure if she would be up to going out tomorrow either. gabriel had the dentist appt from hell yesterday too, so he's not feeling too well either.
i'm not sure if this sunday will work or not, i couldn't be out all day or too far from home, we've got a lot of things to do in the evening. and we'll be gone till wed of this comming week. but after that i am free! i'm usually free any day, i don't work and we homeschool, so anytime is great for me. the end of next week looks nice. next sunday(29th) would be good for me too(dh has a giant work schedule that day).
hevyne, there's a pressure point just on the inside of your heel, for your uterus. you could get a nice foot masage.
that didn't work for me though. lol i finally tried black cohosh when they threatened to induce me in two days if i didn't go into labor on my own(i was only 4 days late with her!! sheesh!). but you wouldn't want to do that till you were over your due date. i'm sorry, i guess i have no good advice for you but to just wait it out! lol
I am pretty bummed about not being able to go too. It looks like I am free most weekends until Mid June (or early May possibly), then I will have a few blissfull months off to try to get out and about.
Staci, I tried everything to have my second even a day early, but went right up until the day I had figured she would be born on (the midwives guess was close, but my own calculations were right on!). I took black cohash, and drank tea (was it raspberry leaf? I forget!). The week before she was born I shoveled 2 feet of snow off the drive, ate loads of spicey food, walked, walked, walked and had one very happy, satisfied DH!
I think next Sunday will work for us! We were supposed to go to an all-weekend SCA thing, but DH's work thing he was supposed to do today is postponed until next Saturday, too. No one wants to be 'high atop the Scranton Times building'* in the pouring rain.
As far as during the week, I'm free too! This week is Lackawanna Co. LLL on Thursday though.
Sunday will work for me too. Thanks for the advice. I have read about black cohosh. I have also read about the castor oil but who wants to be stuck on the toilet for hours?!?! Especially if it induces labor, that is the last thing I want to happen. My doula mentioned the pressure point on the foot and she will show it to me on Friday when we meet. But I am still open to all ideas, so keep them coming!!
I took castor oil when my labor stalled with DS. I will never ever do that again. I am not sure if everyone reacts the same way as I did... but it made me really seriously sick. I don;t think it did anything for my labor either. Someone mentioned to me Evening Primrose Oil (suppositories?), but I have no personal experience with that.
