I guess the title says it all! With my first DD I wasn't able to pump enough extra milk to donate, but it looks like I might be able to now that I seem to producing enough for a small country! (sorry, TMI!)

Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? Is there a "milk bank" or somewhere I could contact in the Seattle area?

Thanks!

Nope, the closest is denver. However, if you have milk, sometimes you can let Le Leche leaders know and they can hook you up with mamma's who need it.

I also have enough milk for large groups of children and have given some of mine to a friend who was struggling.

Courtney wife to geek.gif and mom to 4 boys: chicken3.gif   . I need caffix.gif !
They're not typos. . . I can't spell!

You could also check with local midwives or moms groups...I know a doula in our mom's group (in Spokane) had a client who needed milk and we all donated...

There is also a mom here on MDC (she is located in Bothell) who is looking for milk . . . her user name is 3littlemonkeys, although I know she was facing a required user name change.

Cari, you want to stand up and raise your hand?

I would also recommend contacting any midwives you know, or the local LLL or any lactation consultants you may know. They may know someone who could take your milk directly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I sent an email to my midwives to see if they knew of anyone. It would be great to be able to donate directly to someone in need!

There is a milk bank in Vancouver, B.C and one in San Jose, CA. There is also a Yahhoo group entitled Milkshare for donors and those in need of milk.

Ah! I havent been on the puter enough I guess!
Little_Monkeys would be me! I need milk! So for future reference-Little_Monkeys=DocsNemesis. lol. I could not come up with a new name for the life of me!
Anywho...if you still have some, I would love it! My dd is allergic to cows milk, she's allergic to soy, she has a reaction to iron in formula, so right now she is getting rice milk with coconut milk added in to give more fat. I am still breastfeeding, I just dont have enough (Its probably a hormonal thing!). She will be a year old on the 19th : Just let me know!

No! Ali cant have it! I gave her all of my extra milk and now I need it for my baby, so she owes me!!! (I am totally kidding of course!)
I really wish I had known when my dd was 2 months old and I had a (chest) freezer full of milk that I was gonna need it! Oh well, live and learn.

Thank you everyone. I have actually been in contact with Ali.

Cari, I would love to talk to you more. Unfortunately I've been dealing with some personal grief and I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to get back on track with pumping/donating. I will try to get in touch with you when I'm doing better.
