Reminder: October 6th is the 5th Annual Miles for Midwives 5k!!
On October 6th, for the 5th year in a row, you are invited to a 5k walk/run celebration in support of midwives! Join us as we celebrate Midwifery Week, raise awareness about midwifery, and raise funds for our chapter. In addition, a portion of our proceeds will be donated to Friends of the Birth Center (www.FriendsoftheBirthCenter.org)
, an organization that is working hard to create an independent birth center in New York in the wake of the Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center's closing. There will be t-shirts (for the first 200 registrants), free samples, women's health information, refreshments, a pee wee race, and medals. Whether you walk, run, ride in a stroller, or just want to come out and show your support, we hope you’ll join us and help to support midwifery!
New feature this year! In the past enterprising chapter members have expressed an interest in finding more ways to help fundraise. Now you can create a fundraising web page and collect donations from family and friends! Follow this link to get started: www.active.com/fundraise/MilesforMidwives
And please keep in mind that, as always, we are in need of volunteers to help in the final stages of organizing as well as to work on race day. PLEASE CONTACT US if you’d like to help out!
