I'm still my jammies

I have my big Craft Fair tomorrow afternoon, so I'm working on some last minute stuff for that, plus I'm playing at a little house concert tonight...and I got hardly any sleep last night because of a fussy little boy so it should be interesting.

There is info in my blog link if any of you want to come tomorrow! I'd love to see you!

Hey gals, I got a question for everyone. I'd really like to get some embroidery done on the hiney of a couple of my BG cloth diapers. I could ship them to Etsy people, but if there is someone local who could do it that would be even better.

I found a couple really cute downloadable patterns here and a free one here. Anyone think this is doable? And how much would you charge? TIA!

Tonight I'm having dinner with my my sister's family, my mom's sister and her family, 2 cousins from my mom's side, and my grandpa (mom's dad). He's a professional story teller so he's in town to tell stories for the kids at my cousin's elementary school. He's so amazing to listen to!

I'm babysitting all the kids tomorrow while my sister works. It should be interesting. DH will be gone riding dirt bikes all day. Last weekend when I watched them, I cut my foot really bad when it got stuck under the screen door. I ended up having to call my sister home from work to watch the kids so I could take myself to urgent care to get stitches. Lucky me! Hopefully this weekend will be much more uneventful. The Federal Way farmer's market opens this weekend so I'll probably take the kids to that.

I scheduled my first appointment with the midwife for next week. I'm so excited! She does evening appointments so DH can come too! The nausea has started to rear its ugly head. This is about 2 weeks earlier than when I was pg with Stella. Last time I was really sick for over 6 months, I really hope it will be better this time around!

We had planned on keeping this pg a secret other than with our immediate family members but DH was so excited that he kept telling everyone and then telling them it's a secret and not to say anything. I decided to go ahead and blow this thing wide open by posting it on my blog. I took a picture of DD in a "big sister" T-shirt and let people come to their own conclusions. I think I'm going to have a ton of email in my in-box tomorrow.

Aww, that is so cute!

Well, I had a nice time LOOSING at the casino tonight. We all lost actually, but it was still fun. I had a nice slice of prime rib for dinner with a big old salad and some various little things for dessert.

Now I have a house full of people visiting cause we are all going to the park in Seattle tomorrow.

Hi everyone. Been awhile since I posted. I've been sick. It's been the killer cold from hell. This is my 8th day and I am sill feel pretty darn crappy.

Rachel, Keagan used o do that when he was pretty little too. Even when he was so young he was still in the NICU he would sometimes sleep six hours (moved to seven plus about a week after we got home) the neo-natologist in the nicu said that it was fine. Keagan would have some LONG nursing sessions when he woke, though

Mrs ******, I always lose at the casino, but it is fun

papschmitty, congrats on the pregnancy! I saw that on the old thread but I've been so out of it I forgot to say anything. (Stupid cold) Sorry to hear about your nausea. I had a ton with Keagan, and it was awful. The ONLY thing that made it better was some suppository the OB would convince me to take after I'd gone a day or so without keeping anything down. No amount of b vitamins, ginger, etc would help. I hope it works out better for you this time!

Grace, if it rains, I may come out to your craft fair. I have a portrait party scheduled, but the group wants beach pics, so we'll be rescheduling if it rains- and if it does, hubby and I had talked about a half-price books run, so it could be fun to stop by.

Miranda, I can't embroider, but I wanted to say that those would be really cute!

Has anyone here delivered at the Birthing Inn? I am going to be looking for a midwife soon, and I would like that to be an option. If you did deliver there, who did you use and would you recommend them? (No, I am not pregnant- yet- but we are going to talk to a midwife and then talk about trying)

Hi Stephenie. Sorry to hear that you're sick! I'm on the tail end of a cold too and I'm feeling ok now. It'd be great to see you today at the Crafty Ladies thing!

I labored at the Birthing Inn for 12 hours before transferring to St Jo's only to deliver two hours later with a failed epidural! In hind sight, I would have stayed at the Birthing Inn since all I really wanted was a nap and I didn't get that. I thought it was great. I used Dawn Wadleigh of First Light midwifery and of course as you all have heard me say before, I loved her. She does home births and Birthing Inn births, although she did come with us to the hospital and has an ob that she sort of partners with there so you're not just transferring to a stranger if you transfer.

I delivered at the Birthing Inn. LOVED it. I ended up being transported for postpartum hemmorhage and retained placenta, but honestly I am (oddly) glad that happened because now I can tell clients HONESTLY that if they choose to birth there, transport is safe and reasonable. I had a water birth. It was wonderful.

I would recommend Ann Olsen as a great midwife to check out, and Amy Gordon and Colete Lescantz. WONDERFUL midwives, and they have priveleges there.

papschmitty - yea I think keeping pregnancy's secret is so hard. I told my immediate family and closest friends the next day. A week later I told work. I felt like i was lying to keep it secret.

myrsmiller - bummer about losing. I won $97 playing poker a few weeks ago. I was really proud. Dh plays a lot of poker but the first time I went and played I was so nervous, and I didn't like it, even though I won the tournament ($200). But this time it was pretty fun and I wasn't nervous, and I was playing with cash.

stephanie - I delivered at the birthing inn. I used the
pearl place midwives. There was one gal I really liked. The lady who delivered Selena, cant remember her name, was okay. I went into labor 7 hrs before she was full term (37wks), she ended up being full term by 1 hr, but she let me deliver at the birthing inn, so I was happy. I really liked it. I was planning on delivering at good sam, but switched at 6months.

we are going to the PLU alumini track meet today. I was a distance runner in college but have only been running about twice a week so i'm thinking of doing the 100m and long jump and not killing myself in something longer.

Glad my kid isn't some kind of freak for sleeping so long!! He nurses for like 2 hours when he wakes up but I am loving my sleep so I'm ok with it!!! We are just hanging around the house this weekend... maybe going to the mall for a little bit because I need some pants... my hips/butt definitely expanded so even though I am almost back at my pre-preg weight none of my pants fit... and none of my shirts fit because my boobs have decided they need to be bigger then my head!!!!! I just want one none maternity outfit that I look cute it... as shallow as that may be

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. In a month or two, I will be trying someone out. I am so much more nervous than I was the last time we were going to ttc. But I guess now I've been through pregnancy

How did it go today, Grace? Sorry I didn't make it out. My clients canceled, but my cold seemed to pick up again. I can't shake this thing!

Hey all,

Happy May.

Things for us are finally getting settled. My husband who was awaiting a transfer (army) got it and will be here in a week. Soon I will be off my dad's couch and into a house we rented in University Place (a convenient half mile from Grandpas.... I look forward to my bed, places to put things away, not sleeping in the living room and my dh being with us again. I hope he hasn't forgotten what it is like to have a toddler - he has been living up the pseudo single life for a few months now - uninterupted sleep, dinner out, time to himself....

I hope to meet more of you soon. I would love to come to the singing time but my ds sleeps at 11:30 still and he would be getting pretty cranky half way through. Maybe soon...

BTW does anyone know of anywhere in person besides motherhood to buy nursing tops? Mostly I just wear what I have but things are wearing out and I'd like to feel at least a little cute this summer. I'm really feeling the mothering frump happening...

I always tried to avoid the Motherhood stores, they're way over priced! I've had good luck with Sears, JCPenny, but most of all the thrift stores! There's a great thrift store here in Federal Way called Deseret Industries. They have, by far, the best prices of any thrift store. I think about 75% of DD's and my nieces' wardrobes are from there. They're right off 320th, across from SeaTac mall, next to the Outback. I've had good luck with Value Village too but their prices are higher.

Grace, how was it????

Does anyone know anything about Bryant Montessori? It's in Hilltop.
I just found it while looking at kindergarten info. DD is only 3.5, but I like to plan ahead. LOL

The fact that Tacoma has a public ed Montessori school is very exciting to me. And my pocketbook, LOL
Anyone know anything about it from personal experience or even hear-say?

I think Bryant is great! I have two good friends who are teachers there, actually, we are buying that house with one of them. Some friends of mine just had a garage sale yesterday to raise money for Bryant.

I haven't heard too much about the actual school, but I do know lots of families whose kids go there and seem to love it.

My craft fair was so fun! I'm putting pictures up on my blog shortly...

Muah-Ha-Ha! Yes, we are doing one of the first co-housing communities in Tacoma with a few other parties. We've been in the works for a year and a half and are now getting to the point of making it a reality, which is awesome. It's been a lot of work, and I'm looking forward to being all settled in soon.

Ours is small and closed (and is going to stay that way) but I've heard about a larger group forming around a downtown apartment building that is still looking for members and families. Wouldn't it be cool to have lots of co-housers in Tacoma?

Some Good News:

I get to keep my dog at my parents new house!!!!!

Still packing, I just cleaned out the file cabinet a bit, got a huge pile of papers to be shredded. Its pretty big so we are gonna burn it before we have to clean out the fireplace.

I think the tentative plan is to stay at my parents until DH's leave. If my sanity is intact by that time, I might stay until the deployment is over.

Patsgrace - so cool about the cohousing - and that you started it from scratch. I too would love to live in co-housing but my dh is so very mainstream. We are the odd couple - but we always learn new things from each other... Maybe someday he'll consider it.
