We are moving to the Post Falls/CDA area in a few months and I'm due in December, with blessing #6. I've emailed with this midwife, but would like to hear from anyone who has had a birth with this midwife. Thanks for your time!

She delivered (well, caught I guess is the more accurate term) my second kiddo (who's now 2yo), and if she were on call this week, would be delivering this kiddo. Well, I hope kiddo comes out this week, I'm not very good at being overdue. Her clientele has *really* picked up in the last few years though, so get an appt and on the calendar asap if possible.

She's been in the area for... 15-17 years now? doing her midwifery thing, and if I remember right, had all four of her own kiddos at home. I almost pushed/forced a friend of mine to do her pregnancy/birth with Inga this last year because I knew she'd love it, despite her insurance not covering it. My friend said the experience was worth every penny.

Calling may get a quicker response though - I've tried emailing a few times, and either I don't have the right address or something else wonky happens. But I get call backs almost instantly. Even today when I was having a freakout and asking about trying castor oil because I'm desperate.

As for a ped... When I was first looking for one, people kept recommending CdA Pediatrics across Ironwood from the hospital. At my oldest's 9mo WBC the doc told me to stop nursing him so much (7-9 times a day - he was 9mo!) and start feeding him Gerber meat sticks. Never went back. Instead, we see a family doc that Inga actually recommended to me - Dr. Richard Samuel. I think I've yapped about him in this forum several times if you search. He has lower prices since he doesn't deal directly with insurance, is super nice, is thrilled that I bf for as long as I do, doesn't seem to have a problem with us delaying/selectively vax'ing, and his receptionist crates her little dog under her desk so my boys are thrilled to go to the doc's office because they get to play with a dog (we don't have pets). He was even intrigued (and not weirded out/frightened) when I first met him and was testing the waters when I started talking about mama cloth and such. But I'm evil like that...

HTH!

Yea, I was also disturbed (though not surprised) by the article's spin!

I'm actually really comfortable and relying on the midwife to use clinical judgement regarding transfers, and the need for other intervention. My first was a C-section, after every midwifery technique short of pushing the baby back past the cervix, and two forceps attempts. I do know that some babies just don't want to come out!
