Any moms out there using MO HealthNet and planning on using/used an unlicensed midwife? We are having a homebirth and our short-term insurance just expired. We were informed that we are now uninsurable since I am pregnant. I applied for HealthNet, since I don't see any other options. I only want emergency coverage, not maternity, since we are having a homebirth. I am just wondering how invasive the program is, and if it will be near impossible to use it, and still protect what we are doing.
Missouri Health net is like regular insurance. You may use it if you want or not. Also they have midwifes in some areas. Not sure if they do homebirths or not.
Missouri care is for central missouri
Mercy care if more the KC area
Health Care USA is central and more the rest of the state, If I under stand right.
You can get on to each plan and look and see providers and what they cover
i am using an unlicensed mw in stl area and have also applied to mo health net. i dont know much about it...but plan to use it only in the event of a transfer to the hospital and after the baby is born for doctor visits...if it is anything like the system in il (where i am moving back to stl from) you are asked to choose a doctor/provider...in which case you could probably just find a good provider for your new baby...a family practice, maybe and then just have the insurance card for the possibility of covering hospital charges
