Just wondered if anyone's interested in a get-together. We should just do it. Please let me know if any of you are game, and we can set a time and place.

Peace,
Autumn Wind

I'm game
I can't do Tuesday or Thursday, but any other day is good. And I am absolutely ROTTEN for mornings, so afternoon would be much, much better for me.

It would be me (Lauren ), ds1 (Alex--8yo), and ds2 (Eoin--7mo) coming....

Hi, I live in Broome County too! I was pleasantly surprised to see people from this area on here. A get together sounds great, if its ok that a newbie come too. I also go to the La Leche meetings in Vestal, or at least I just started attending them this month. My daughter Rylie is 14 weeks. She tends to be better in the morning and afternoon. So any afternoon would prolly work for us.

Namaste,
Epiphany

Cool! Yeah, I could do a Wednesday or a Friday. And an afternoon would be great. (I could do a late morning, like 10:30 or 11:00am)

I think the PAL Center (Lewis Street, downtown Binghamton - The old train station) would be a good place, because it's a "drop-in" play center for parents and children. They have toys, equipment, etc. for ages 0 to 5 or so --- and also comfy couches and easy chairs for parents, and also round tables & chairs for snacking. Unfortunately, their hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 1pm, and Thursday 2pm to 7:30pm.

There are 3 other centers that are similar, & they have different hours, so that might be a possibility? (They're in Hillcrest, Endicott and JC).

What do you guys think? Or is there someplace that you love to go that would be a nice place to meet?

I've never heard of the PAL Center. Do you have to be a member or can you just go during open hours? I decided to stay home with the baby, and my DH started an IT Consulting business out of our home. So I don't get out much anymore, and something like PAL would be great to get out with the baby once in a while. Also I am unfamiliar with any of the other centers you mentioned. I'd be willing to check them out though!

Epiphany - the PAL center is great, and it's open to the public. It's for all parents and their young children (& babies). They also have a little lending library, and art projects, a toddler computer, etc.... - it's good. And it's also a sort of "resource" center for mommies to make connections to whatever they need in the community. The staff is pretty knowledgable.

All of the centers are funded by Cornell Cooperative Extension (& grants & stuff from the community). They ask that if you can, bring an item of snacking to donate (like a sealed box of healthy crackers, etc, juice, etc). But, usually everyone forgets to bring something & that's alright.

I'm gonna jump over to the web site and see what the hours are of the other centers. You go to Cornell Cooperative Extension's site, and go from there.

I'll be back.

Alrighty - here's the web site: http://www.cce.cornell.edu/broome/broome.html
It's the site for Broome County's Cornell Coop. Ext.

You go there, and then click on "PROGRAMS', then click on "FAMILY, YOUTH & COMMUNITY", then over in the left column click on "PARENTS-CHILDREN", and then you click on "PARENT RESOURCE CENTERS".

Anywhooooooooo -- here's the hours of the centers:

HILLCREST FORKS (1160 Chenango Street, Binghamton): 771-0090: Tuesday thru Friday 9:30am to 12:30. (this one is in the old school, right next to the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference campus.)

ENDICOTT: (53 McKinley Ave) 785-4331: Monday thru Thursday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

LINCOLN CONNECTION: (24 Cherry Street, Johnson City - inside the Lincoln School) 798-1634: Monday 1pm to 3pm, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am to 3:30pm.

PAL CENTER (see my last post) 45 Lewis St Binghamton 771-6334.
(PAL stands for Parents As Leaders)

I"ve never been to the Endicott one, or the Lincoln Connection, but I'm sure they're good.
