hiya

i am in the northern philly burbs, and am looking for a midwife or a really special OB. ideally i'd love a midwife, but i'm having twins, which not all can accommodate. i know that doylestown midwifery is OK with it, but would love some other options, too.

i'm open to an OB, but it has to be someone who is not going to automatically schedule a c-section when i go in at 10wks, know what i mean?

any and all suggestions would be great, thanks!

I'm not a 100% sure about twins, but you can try Valley Birthplace. It's in Huntingdon Valley. Barb D'Amato is the head midwife and she has at least one other midwife with her, maybe a second.

If you'd want a homebirth midwife, I could help you with that, not sure about hospital based ones.

if i were having one, i'd love a homebirth, but with the twins it's got to be in a hospital unfortunately... paranoid 1st time mom!

Kathy Hindle at Midwifery Traditions does deliveries at Chestnut Hill Hospital ; I dunno if she has different rules or whatever for twins, but she is a great midwife and def worth a try if you don't mind the distance issue.

I just had twins at Elmer (naturally). I'm not sure how far that is from Philly. It was an hour for me. I used Patty Madden, cnm in Mullica Hill.

Dr. Gerson at Lankenau is pro-vaginal birth for twins. I know of several women who had twin vaginal births with his high risk (MFM) practice. I understand that he and his partners can be condescending but overall are very good OBs.
