Hi. We live in St. Louis, but my husband is currently in Boston dealing with his gravely ill mother. He thinks he's going to have to make the call to pull the plug on her life support within the next few days. If that happens I'll join him up there and help with her estate.

Here's where I need your help. She owns a home in Waltham; along with a car. I'd like an idea on local places we can call to essentially sell the house and its belongings. Any ideas? What about used car dealerships in the area to sell hers?

Also, do you all have charities that will come *to the house* to pick up items? I know a lot of the furniture is trashed, but this woman has a ton of collectibles and artwork that would make a pretty penny for a charity. Again, I need it to be a reputable place that can make it as easy as possible for us.

Thanks for your help.

Don't know if donating the car to charity is an option, but I had great luck giving my car to the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (www.mareinc.org). They pick up the car for you ... easy!

Thanks, mamapickles.

Well, as fate would have it my husband called his mother's lawyer to find out about dealing with her estate and her medical needs. As it turns out she completely removed him (her only child and only family member that she has any sort of relationship, albeit strained, with) from her will last year. It's her final F you.

Guess I no longer need help in this regard.

Thanks anyway!

Ugh! I hate hearing stories like that.

I didn't reply because I didn't have any resources for you.

I'm so sorry she's spoiling her memory by doing this.

It gets better. She is leaving her house to the so-so strangers that adopted her dog last year. She's so weird.

H - thanks for your help.

Thanks for that, doberbrat. Sadly, this provides just the closure my husband needed.

Ok, I'm going back to the Missouri forum. Thanks for your help, ladies.
