At such high speeds, he is pretty damn lucky he wasn't ejected from the vehicle.

I agree... but come on, this guy is an ex-Senator, ex-Chairman of Goldman Sachs... he probably thought he was too big and important to have to wear his seat belt.

I remember being mad at Princess Diana for not wearing a seat belt too.

Doesn't apply to Corzine, but I'll never understand why some laws require them in the front seat, but not the back. :

Well, in all fairness you are safer already in the back. The woman riding in the back seat was not wearing a belt and she sustained no injuries.

Who gets injured and to what degree is most often times related to where the vehicle is struck. I also do not believe the woman reported to have sustained no injury is correct. She sustained at the very least soft tissue injury which if compared to the injuries sustained by the Governor, would be reported by the media as not injurious. I gather all of them felt like a Mack truck had run over them, the next day.

Very fair points all. I retract my statement.

dd saw a bit of this on the news & it really resonated with her (she's 4). any time it comes up on tv, she says, "that boy didn't wear his seatbelt. that's why he got hurt." it really struck a nerve with her.

I think it was horribly selfish, not to mention stupid of him. The man has children. His accident doesn't just affect his life, it affects theirs too.

Not to mention the fact that they were going 91mph with emergency lights on, which seems like a needless endangerment of everyone on that highway. Guess how much sympathy I have for the guy?

he didn't want to be late for imus...

i was pretty surprised that he didn't have a seat belt on. if it had been i'm sure he wouldn't have had such over the top injuries.
