Welcome to December! Let me know if there are any mistakes with the first post.

We told some family over this past weekend and holiday. I remember with ds and my last pregnancy that being really exciting, but I feel like I have lost the ability to really celebrate this pregnancy in the same way now. I am still so scared even though I feel confident.

Bliss, I am still really scared also. Telling folks has made the fear even worse, unfortunately. I still haven't told family, but had to tell my hockey team and my frisbee pickup players so its weird that so many folks know now! I almost wanted to wait until I got my doppler so I could check for a hb that day before telling anyone.

I had a hockey scrimmage Sunday, I was planning on practicing for a while longer (thats just mostly skating drills and such) but figured a scrimmage might be okay for another week or two since now everyone knew and it wasn't competitive, plus my uterus is still not really out of my pelvis. But I was accidentally hit, fell and hit my elbow and needed two stitches (despite my elbow pads!) and now have a bursitis there (I get them in that elbow easily) so that was a bit of a wake-up call - I fell on my back, it wasn't bad, but now need antibiotics since they are afraid the bursitis would get infected, etc., and infection in pregnancy is not good at all. I was tempted to play one more game this Thursday (a few other teammates of mine played until 14wks, I'm 13wks) but now, no way. Since all last night I worried that even just a fall like that could do something (unlikely I know!)

so no more hockey. Ill miss it! As soon as it snows and I can xc ski Ill be less bummed about it

If I hadn't had the miscarriage before I'd probably be a little less cautious.

So, hoping the doppler arrives today, Weasley, thanks for the advice on how to find the HB! I hope it is easy.

I could use some more patience. I had no idea that it was so stressful to worry this much and to feel sick for so long. I felt so icky yesterday that I was crying on poor DH again and getting really mad at the cat. Ugg. I just want to feel better again for more than an hour or two at a time.

Sweet Mamas, all your positive sticky vibes worked! I just heard my baby's heart beating surely and strongly! :

OMG, I was so relieved, even my mws started to cry!

This has totally helped me turn a huge corner. I am so much more confident now. I'm so glad to have this group for support! I sincerely hope that we are all feeling over this emotional hump very, very soon!

Seafox-- ouch! I hope you heal quicky! Sorry you're getting benched so early in the season. Good luck with your doppler-- although I'm surprised they didn't check the baby at the hospital, just out of routine?

YAY ktmama!!! I'm so glad for you. There's just nothing like that sound, is there?

Bliss, I know what you mean about not being as excited... I feel like even if this pregnancy is IT and sticks and everything turns out lovely, my previous miscarriages have still robbed me of the ability to be carefree, open and excited, as well as pretty much any kind of faith in my body. I had always looked forward to pregnancy, but now I am not enjoying it, there's just too much stress and worry.

Seafox, goodness! In my excitement I missed reading about your injury. I'm so sorry that happened.

Weasley and Bliss, I hope that by the time you feel your baby move and you can feel little body parts through your skin you will be feeling all blissed out and really enjoying your pg. I hope you turn a corner soon.

yeah, I think if I had asked they might of checked, I didn't even think of it. Its a pretty minor injury although I got the doc telling me "stop after 12wks, not 13wks!" which I had guessed there might be more wiggle room with! I was expecting to get benched, so no big deal, but I had forgotten how much I associate winter w/ playing hockey and such. Plus its a huge social network for me as well! Ill keep going to practices and watch the games though, so that'll continue.

and even though I've only had one miscarriage, not four, Weasley, I totally know what you are saying. I'd feel *SO* different if this was my first pregnancy at this stage of the game. I really had thought no bleeding, no issues! before, so I'd be happy as a clam right now instead of freaking out about whether or not to use the doppler I rented. I didn't even consider renting a doppler before and wondered why people did

I hope I end up enjoying it sometime, I'm hoping its a bit better when I'm bigger and can feel movement. Though I'm sure every time the baby rests in there I'll freak out !

Don't worry - every time your baby rests, you'll be very grateful, especially if he/she is as active as you!

Seafox - hope you are on the mend quickly and it didn't scare you too much.

Yay for ktmama!! :

We are 14 weeks today too! : We go for our final u/s at the fertility clinic on Wednesday and then go to the OBGYN on Dec 15. I hope we can find out the gender soon, I feel like if I know, I can bond with the baby (aka Sprockets - lol) more. I can't wait to see the baby again Wednesday! M is feelling slightly less naeuseous but concerned with the amount of weight she has gained (she could only keep cheese and bread down) so we are going to talk to the RE about it on Wed, but know he will probably just say wait to discuss it with the OBGYN.

I have stopped obsessing about diapers (kissaluvs at first), but have now switched to strollers. I am insane about it. I don't know what my problem is. I can't even wrap my head around the sling thing, although I should take my brand new nephew shopping to try some out ... did you know they have stroller videos on youtube??? lol. I have watched every one!

Yeah for 14 weeks!!

Dude, get thyself a Hotsling (or I guess maybe a different pocket sling since Hotslings colors are... kinda crappy lately). They're sized so you need one for each of you, but I swear they are the easiest to use on the planet. My BFF absolutely loves hers (still using it - 2 years later) and she was not a sling kinda girl before I got it for her. They are an awesome starter sling.

Yes, yes, yes to a Hotsling! I am still using mine THREE years later (almost three and a half). I also have a mei tai which we used for two years and loved. And, another great thing about babywearing - the more and longer you do it, the longer you can put off making a decision about a stroller!

I agree with ktmama about putting off strollers. What I thought I wanted in a stroller before ds was born was quite different then once he actually went in a stroller.

I am refusing to think about baby stuff AT ALL... it just feels like tempting fate. I don't want to act like I think it's in the bag now, you know? (What, me paranoid? Who told you that?) I am just starting to think about maternity pants, only because my current work pants are leaving dark red marks all over my belly...

(Although I am starting to think about how we'll arrange stuff in this 2-bedroom, 800sqft house to accommodate a baby and all the trappings. )

yeah, I'm not thinking about it yet either, and wondering if I'll be in a mad rush to outfit the house and everything a month before I'm due

I'm hoping by the time I hit 20 weeks Ill feel more confident, and there will still be enough time to take childbirth classes, buy things, etc.

My elbow is a lot better already, I don't think it got infected. I am still waiting on my doppler! I hope it comes soon. So many people know now (tell hockey team, so some friends tell other friends, etc) that I am so afraid I'll be miscarrying again and have to tell so many people about it. (only a few knew last time)

having to take antibiotics sucks, since I miscarried last time around when I got a bad fever/bronchitis and had to take antibiotics so I have a negative association w/ it. Even though these are supposedly 'safe' for pregnant women, they are only category B, which means they were only tested on pregnant animals. At least this time I am further along than last time and no fever, I guess. Still freaking me out a bit. Stupid elbow!

Hey, you can add me to the list:

Sarah, pregnant w/#1 via IVF after 1.5 years TTC

We hit 12 weeks on Saturday, and told our families at Thanksgiving, and tons of friends over the weekend. It's definitely made it feel a little more real...but at the same time, I'm still having trouble not feeling terribly anxious.

I have to constantly repeat to myself all the positive signs: heartbeat on doppler at 10.5 weeks, no m/s but definite changed appetite and nausea, and I'm pretty sure I can feel my uterus over my pubic bone now!

I have a feeling the NT scan next week will help a lot. I think I really need to see it to believe it.

Welcome Sarah!

Yes, I definitely think a hotsling or two is needed! My SIL has one, so I am going to try it on with her new baby, I am really short, but not thin, so I never know how things are going to fit on me. We plan on slinging a lot, I hope this little baby likes it!

I guess I am all about what I NEED for the baby, and organizing, because I am not actually pregnant, so it makes me feel closer to actually having a baby KWIM? I don't have any of the other symptoms, so I need something to make it feel real. So apparently YouTube vids of strollers fits the bill right now

Critty, I'll bet Ontario has some sort of Mommy store and those places will usually let you try slings there. Also, my local API chapter has a baby carrier lending library where you can check out carriers to try for a week or so. Finding one that works for you can really be a challenge. The good news is that there are lots and lots of options, so don't give up!

Welcome Sarah! Congratulations on 12 weeks!

I have had a headache for almost 24 hours now that I just can't shake. My old standby, Advil, is on the naughty list, and I'm lost without it. Nothing else helps for more than a few minutes.

My RE okay'd Motrin/Advil until I was 20+ weeks. If it's the only thing that helps, maybe you can ask if it's okay for you. Headaches are the worst. I realized that my nausea meds were causing some awful ones for me, so now I'm headache free but so miserably sick.

I'm getting anxious about my NT scan on Monday. We never did any of the early testing with my first pregnancy and I never worried. This pregnancy has been so medically managed we okay'd the testing and it's freaking me out. I don't think my DH will be able to come to the scan and I'm terrified of learning something might be wrong and being alone. I've no reason to suspect anything other than a perfectly normal pregnancy, but it took so long to get here everything makes me panic. I wish I could just relax.

We had our last u/s at the clinic today, now we have officially "graduated" to the OB, there wasn't a ceremony or any hats though. The baby looked so cute in there, flying around M's womb We couldn't see the gender yet, hopefully the next one. It was great to see everything still progressing well, and the hematoma is shrinking. M's nauseous stopped but now she has major heartburn. That little baby is making it hard on her! I hope when we go to the OB we will get to hear the heartbeat ...

Hey mamas...I haven't been on in a while but wanted to chime in. I'm glad to read the updates in this months thread and see that everyone and their little beans are doing ok.

My last pregnancy was a 2nd trimester loss due to an incarcerated uterus. I was really worried about it happening again and...well it did happen again. But this time I got symptoms much earlier and I've been mostly in the hospital since Saturday morning. On Tuesday I had surgery to reposition the uterus and I got to come home this afternoon. I'm still in a lot of pain and I have a pessary in for at least another week. I'm scared for the baby but at the same time I feel like this is the only way to give the baby a chance.
