Maybe TMI. But isn't everything on the board at this point?!

So I woke up at 1:30 with a good deal of liquid on my undies. I thought, probably just discharge, even though it was watery...I've had this watery stuff before that I thought was amniotic fluid and when my midwife looked at it under the microscope determined it wasn't. Then, I woke at 3 with a real sensation of wetness, and my underwear was soaked (that's never happened before), so I had to change them. I put a pad on because I could feel stuff coming out still. Baby moved around, so maybe sealed it up? Not a ton of liquid after that for awhile. I started cramping, then started having really intense contractions. They were a minute long, but sporadic....one at 3 minutes, one at 8 minutes, one at 5 minutes, one at 12 minutes. I had 8 over the course of an hour, and was just about to call my midwife, but I was soooo tired and was really trying to just ignore them and go to sleep. I fell asleep and woke several times with cramps or contractions, and was sweating up a storm, but nothing that kept me from going back to sleep, so it can't be too bad, right? Since I woke this morning, lots of liquid, lots of cramping, and occasional contractions...I'm also having a lot of pressure and just feeling crappy in general. I just have this feeling that this baby is coming soon.

And I could be totally wrong and end up the last person here. But any way, I just feel weird...

I'm calling my midwife as soon as she gets into the birth center this morning, but meanwhile thought I'd speculate on here....

Sounds like it to me, but I am glad you got some sleep. I slept through the first parts of early labor with my first, so it is possible.

Sounds like quite a bit of liquid for it not to be your water. I couldn't imagine that regular discharge would cause that much wetness. Looks encouraging! Keep us posted!

Same thing happened to me last night; I stood up and a gush came out and soaked through my panties. Happened again to a lesser extent about ten minutes later and then I was just damp all night.
I seriously hope that's what it was and not pee. I would like to think that I still have a little bladder control left!
I haven't had any bloody show though, have you?
Keep us posted as to what happens!

My midwife checked out the fluid on the microscope and PH strip and such, and said, "Well I can tell you you aren't leaking fluid right now." Apparently it could have been amniotic fluid and baby's head is sealing it...or it could've been urine.

I'm a little worried because if it was fluid, there's a higher risk of an infection...so now I really wish I'd just go into labor so I don't have to worry about her in there.

So I'm waiting to see what happens. If I have more fluid I'm supposed to call her.

There is a higher risk of infection but you can watch for lots of signs for that. I once read a blog (not sure I should mention the name or not) where woman had her water break and she gave birth 5 days later!! So, I wouldn't freak too much. Going 24+ hours after water breaking is not uncommon - but most of the medical community would have us think that the worst is about to happen if we don't get baby out right away!!!

Hope you get the out come you're wanting!
