Ok, I'm way too excited that I don't have GBS.
I'm homebirthing in a state where it's less than legal, and last January a homebirther needed to transfer to the hospital due to failure to progress. Because she didn't have the GBS swab done they pumped her and the baby full of antibiotics, held the baby hostage in the NICU for a week (despite her being over 8 pounds, eating just fine, and in all ways perfectly healthy), and treated the parents like utter poop.
With my upcoming homebirth I've been terrified that something like that would happen to me, so amongst other things I got the GBS swab. As I'm deathly allergic to penicillin and all relatives and doctors have a history of trying to slip me penicillin (or at least totally dismissing my allergy), being GBS- means that they have 0 reason to try to kill me! (GBS apparently responds best to cillins and far less so to the drugs I can take).
So, yay! I'm just a little bit safer now, and super super thrilled about it!
