Jacob Liam was born Friday 6/5 at 1:23am. He was 9lbs 9oz and 20in long. He is healthy and doing great.
Thursday was just another typical pregnant day for me. I wasn't feeling any indications of labor, nothing out of the ordinary, just hot and miserable from the heat wave we were having.
I went to bed at about 10:30 and about 15 minutes later I felt a pop, which I just knew was my water breaking. I stood up, and felt a little gush. I woke the hubby up and told him that my water had broken and that I was calling the nurse. Within 5-10 minutes of my water breaking, the contractions set in. They were consistent from the get go, and progressively got worse pretty quickly. DH jumped in the shower, and I was on and off the toilet with loose bm's and bloody show. We got everything together and left the house to drop our toddler off at my parents house. The birthing center was 40 minutes away, and I started to get nervous. Things were really progressing and I started to wonder if I was going to make it on time. We dropped off our son at my parents and I really started to feel pukey and the contractions were strong, but nothing that I couldn't breath or work through. We made it to the birthing center at 12:20 and were checked in at 12:30 or so. I went to triage and immediately threw up. Finally I was checked at about 12:45 and was dialated to a 6. The nurse asked me what my plan was for pain medication and I responded, as soon as possible! The contractions were intense and I was not expecting things to be moving so quickly. I was moved to a L&D room and got into a gown. My nurse told me the anesthesiologist would be there in 3 minutes. He came into the room and all of a sudden I felt the urge to push. I yelled something about being pushy, and my midwife checked me. I had gone from a 6 to complete in a matter of minutes! My nurse said I'm sorry but we do not have time for the medication, he is coming now. I kind of panicked, said something about "Needing" the epidural, LOL, and the next thing I know my body takes over and Jacob is born in three pushes! All 9lbs 9oz of him. He was born in less than 2 1/2 hours after my water broke! His apgars were 9 and 9. He looks a lot like his big brother and is doing great. I felt really good afterwards. Just a teeny tiny bit of tearing that required a few stiches (a relief after an almost 4th degree tear the first time). All of us are in love!
P.S. Good name- I have a Liam
