EDD: June 3

Other children: DD 6, DS 3.5
Hometown: Southern California
Occupation: SAHM and small, home breeder of Australian Labradoodles
Birth plans: Hoping for Birth Center, where I had a natural birth with my son, but the cost has gone up to $5000.
I don't like the thought of a hospital, but there is one that has midwives and a "birthcenter" in it, and my insurance would pay for it.

Thoughts: Nervous to have 3 kids! My house is a mess and I am trying to home school my 6 year old. Excited :to have 3 kids! And use all the baby stuff I have stored in the garage! Yeah cloth diapers! I love wearing my slings and wraps and kissing & smelling baby hair.

Hey everyone - I'm Jessica and I'm from Maine. Due June 6!

I'm very excited - this will be my first child, although I had a miscarriage in January that effected me more than I ever thought it would. I'm optimistic this time (I feel sick enough that there's gotta be something big going on in there) and I still feel just as connected and hopeful for this one despite all the worrying and obsessing I've done over the last ten months.

I'm planning a homebirth with two great midwives, and I've opted for an ultrasound in about a week and a half so I can have some peace of mind.

I probably won't post very often but I enjoy reading and knowing that there are so many other women going through the same things!

EDD: June 17

Other children and their ages: None yet!

Hometown/state/province: Vancouver, BC

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): student

Birth plans: homebirth w/ midwife and doula

Thoughts about this pregnancy: we really really want this baby, but there have been a number of reasons to prepare ourselves for m/c, so I'm not really sure how to feel yet about this pregnancy in particular. But I'm nauseated tonight, so that's a good sign!

thoughts about this pregnancy: feeling more unsettled this time as i've been so crampy all the time and don't remember that with my first. i just want to get to the sure-this-babe-is-staying phase! worried about how tired i will be- as a pregnant mama with a 3 year old, and as a postpartum mama with a newborn and an almost 4 year old!

Other kids: none that I know of. Just kidding! This is our first.

Location:Raleigh, NC

Occupation:high school English teacher (listen, I do not judge internet grammar! I swear!) My baby is due the same month as their final exams, but at the end of the month, so I will be able to hopefully go into labor at home and just NOT come back the next school year. I'd like to stay out all next school year and hopefully quit and figure out how to make this SAHM thing work with a mortgage. I really do not enjoy my job at all and can't imagine at the very least returning to my current school and grade level. Regardless of my pregnancy, I will not be returning!

Birth Plans: We are so excited to be near a freestanding birthing center 2 towns away. We take a tour on Nov. 5. It's called the Women's Birth and Wellness Center. We'd like to get a doula. I am terrified of C-Sections and want to do everything to avoid it. I want to labor however I want and not be strapped down to a hospital monitor, because I have all these fears that I will need to work through in case I do end up transferred to a hospital or experience complications. I would like to learn to go with the flow. I'm not making any decisions about medication just yet.

Thoughts About This Pregnancy: My husband is beyond thrilled and has been totally involved even pre-conception--he was the one that suggested I not refill my bc pills this summer! He also found the entire concept of charting fascinating, and had a link to my chart on his phone so he could check it to see what was going on!! It means a lot to me to see him this involved so early.

I am journaling, trying to take it easy, and will get prenatal massages whenever I feel like it. I've given myself "permission" to do those things. This is my first, so I want to relish it. We want to educate ourselves as much as possible about everything. hah! We're ambitious. We are not sure we want to know what it is, so we're calling it Soda Seven after the Seinfeld episode. DH is a junior, so we will definitely name it III if Soda is a boy, but not call it his name, "Trip," or "Trey" to indicate the third. We'll probably call it Fred or Freddie, since he goes by Michael and his dad is already Mike. Too many Mikes/Michaels already; a third one would drive me bonkers. We've got a few girl names lined up as well.

I cannot wait to sew little outfits for Soda Seven. I want to make everything: baby carriers, cloth diapers, bags, quilts, toys, outfits, curtains, etc. I know I am delusional in thinking I will have the time. I have GOT to get one of those shirts that say, "I'm so crafty, I make people!" That tears me up every time!

I am very happy to get to see what my body can do. I struggled with body image issues in high school, and I have come to except my curves and large tatas. I am so happy those tatas will be functioning the way they're intended to do!

EDD: June 1, 2009

Other children and their ages: Cameron (stepson, 10) Lucy (DD, 2)

Hometown/state/province: Massachusetts!

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): SAHM

Birth plans: VBAC! I wanted a home birth but unfortunately money was an issue...

Thoughts about this pregnancy: It's not as exciting the second time around . . . at least not yet. I know that once the morning sickness passes and I feel better (and start feeling those kicks and getting a belly!) then I'll be excited but right now I just feel miserable!
This baby was completely planned but I hadn't expected it to happen during the first month of trying so I was a bit taken aback when my period didn't show.
Looking forward to getting to know all the other moms here!

Other children and their ages: DS is Noah, 10 years old (and very excited!)

Hometown/state/province: san antonio, texas

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): i work part-time in retail while i pursue my master's in social work. also doing an internship with CASA

Birth plans: i had an emergency c-section with DS that went horribly wrong. i've spoken to my OB about VBAC and she is totally willing to work with my on that. i wanted a waterbirth but my insurance won't cover it so it's a no-go. i'm still excited though. i'm open to pain meds but am going to go natural as much as possible

Thoughts about this pregnancy: really excited and more than a little nervous. last time around i was 18 and had known the BD for about 3 months when i got pregnant. this time around, my partner and i have been together 2.5 years, semi-planned the pregnancy, and are in it for the longhaul. that alone makes it different. it's fun to have a pregnancy that i can be excited about and most everyone else is also excited!

EDD: June 12

Other children and their ages: A.H. 13 months

Hometown/state/province: MD

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): SAHM

Birth plans: I did natural (no pain meds, vag. del.) last time around. Started in a birth center and transferred to the hospital (still under the care of the midwives) because I was dehydrated and needed some pitocin. At this point, we'll try again to deliver at the birth center, although every once and a while I find myself thinking I'm crazy to try it without pain meds again... (please remind me that second labors really are a little better!)

Thoughts about this pregnancy: Completely excited when I found out, hubby completely calm (yet still excited) when I told him minutes later, sometimes I feel like I can totally do it all over again and sometimes I feel like I'm nuts for trying it again (we want to aim for 5 kids in all), ready to hear the heartbeat! hopefully at the next appt- we did get a dating sono at 7.5 weeks so that was exciting. we're also anxious to find out what this baby is as we were surprised with our first.

Birth plans: Nurse-midwife at hospital birthing center

Thoughts about this pregnancy: After 20 months of unexplained infertility, we got lucky on our very first IVF cycle. We're overjoyed! Infertility left me with TONS of anxiety about the pregnancy, but an early ultrasound at the fertility clinic showed an embryo with a good heartbeat at 7 weeks, and at my first midwife appointment today (10w5d), we go the heartbeat on doppler!

EDD: 27th of June (winter baby for me!)

Other children and their ages: none, but I have a beautiful god-daughter JD (7!!!) and god-son JK (3!!!)

Hometown/state/province: I'm an Aussie (hence the winter baby) and I live in Victoria.

Occupation (SAHM or work outside the home): Youth Services Librarian in a busy public library, mostly with under-priviledged communities.

Birth plans: None really - I don't want an episiotomy or C section if I can help it, and I don't want my families there, except the MaritalUnit. Other than that, I'm not trying to plan too much just yet. I think my mother would love it if I homebirthed though.

Thoughts about this pregnancy: I want to punch every single doctor who said I was infertile, or I'd find it really hard to get pregnant. Even though I've spent 11 years on hormonal bc (the last six were on continuous bc so I didn't have a period for that whole time) and I've only been off it 12 months as of this month AND we only tried (in our kinda half-assed way ) for four months, I'm two and a half month pregnant. We didn't plan for this! We'd settled in for the long haul. Years of trying. Looking at adoption. So many doctors were so sure.

Idiots.

Other than watching all of my plans fall by the wayside, and wishing I'd gone for the promotion a few months ago, I'm happy. Hating pregnancy, but happy. I'd expected to be like my mother, loving every minute. Instead I've been nauseous since implantation and throwing up every day for the past two weeks. But, me and the MU are really happy.

Thoughts about this pregnancy: This pregnancy was a HUGE surprise, as we thought we were done. But we are over the moon excited now!

Birth plans: I plan on having an HBAC (homebirth after cesarean)

Thoughts about this pregnancy: I'm really excited about working with a midwife and possibly having a homebirth! With my first, I trusted the med-wives and wound up with a cesarean which I feel could have been prevented. With this, at least I know I'm going to do everything I possibly can naturally and I'm at peace if it ends up with another CS.
