I love Tatiana. I always thought it was a beautiful name. An old boyfriend's mother was named Tatiana (she was very nice).

I don't really think pronunciation would be a problem.

I don't know about that one. I really like the sound but around here Noah is pretty popular for little boys right now. I know a bunch of them under 5. I think people hearing the name would automatically assume boy. On the other hand I get that a lot with my name too, and it doesn't really bother me.

Boys- We haven't discussed boy's names a lot, but I really like the name Theodore.
I love those types of names- the classic ones that are not too common. Like, I am 33 and in my graduating class we had 7 jennifer, 5 michaels, and 7 johns. I like those names you chose, channelofpeace.

In DH's family, the tradition is for the boys to have D names and the girls to have J names, and we kinda broke that with DD but he wants to try this time to do it if we can EVER agree on a name. I think we want something scottish-sounding. (DH's heritage) or irish (mine)

He likes for boys: Donal, Declan, Duncan
Girls: Sinead, Siobhan

And I like:
Boy- Galen, Colin
girl- galen, winnie, hattie, jane

I don't know if we will EVER agree. With DS and DD, we immediately loved the names the other one chose so it was easy. I have to scour over some names online.

I know a woman in KY who just named her DD Noa. It's really pretty.

Basically, if you pull up the 1908 SSA list of names, those are our short lists.

No, seriously. DD and DS are both in the top 11 that year...

Girls:
Eleanor
Nora
Ruth
Hazel
Olive
Margaret

Boys:
William (Will)
Oliver
Owen
Simon
Charles (Charlie)
Frank

Both DD and DS have very famous and meaningful namesakes on purpose. My big problem is that, with the exception of Eleanor, I don't know any great people with the other names off the top of my head. Any suggestions?

Names I like but we can't use for various reasons:
George
Georgia
Sophia / Sophie
Solomon

Middle name will be my last name like DD and DS.
Last name will be DH's last name like DD and DS.

My favorite name sites are the Baby Name Voyager, Nymbler, and the SSA site.

Umm...

Norah Jones?

Margaret Burke-White was a famous photographer during the depression... I think she was pretty famous in her day. I bet there are lots of famous Margarets.

No Eleanor Roosevelt.

FWIW, DD is after Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Susan B. Anthony's sidekick during early feminism, Seneca Falls, etc.) and DS is after Henry Blackwell (early feminist, etc. and abolitionist) and Henry David Thoreau.

I personally love old fashioned names and boy did it hurt when those because not only the norm but in the top 100. I am pleased to say that neither of my chosen names have appeared anywhere on this pr the top 100 list. I lOVE Prudence for a girl and Eamon for a boy. I have had those names chosen for about a year and still love them.

Super Crunchy natural birthing, extended breastfeeding, non-Circing, non vaxxing cloth diapering, Student midwife and Mama to Hannah 14 Abby 9 and Liam 1

Abigail June for a girl (Abby for short).

No clue for a boy. I like Adam and Andrew (Andy for short) and Scott. DH doesn't want to talk about boy names because he is sure it's a girl, but he pretty much hates everything I pick out.

Heh, well, if you make it an unique name she has an excuse for misspelling it. Gee, Gab? I knew a family in college whose girls were Saorscha(sir-sha), Ianna(ee-AN-nuh, and Aine (awn-ee).

Because I have some rather critical in-laws, our "joke" name for the babe until it's official (and permanent) will be Inara Jayne (girl) or Jayne Malcom (boy). They'll be so busy freaking out over those, that our real choices will seem reasonable. Sort of like the ask-for-a-pony-when-you-want-a-puppy trick.
What a funny idea, but good. I made DH pick a boy's name the week before we had our DD.

I've always liked the name Aislinn (pronounced Ashleen) but I think it's becoming more popular.
that: I like to pronounce Aislinn how is looks, (ays-ling)

I *like* Naomi, but I don't LOVE it, ya know? I would agree to the name for a middle name. And I also love Violet.. did I already mention that in a previous post?

Our names are set... pending one of us just up and hating them, we've both agreed we love these names and these are it!

Girl: Cassidy Dawn
Boy: Lucas Aaron

DH's dad was Thomas Aaron (DH is Thomas Lee) and DH's grandfather was Aaron. Both are deceased, his father just recently. It's how we're choosing to honor him (It's also his brother's middle name!)

We already have a Lucy Jane and if it's another girl it'll be Joy Denise. A boy will be Joseph Robert. Simple, fairly traditional and easy to remember!
