Sorry that I did not start a new thread over the weekend as usual. On Saturday we had plans to go out, but I was just not feeling very great. We ended up staying home, and then we lost power for the evening. We had some bad storms, and a tree came down and took down a power line with it.
Sunday we went to a Halloween party. I felt horrific yesterday morning. I managed to get us to the party, and ds had a terrific time. He felt sick when we got home. We all went to bed early.
My biggest challenge these last few days is drinking water. I feel like I have an aversion to it, and i cannot think of anything to substitute. I do not want juice. I had some sparkling water and gingerale, but not nearly as much as I should be drinking.
As for me, my m/s started in on Friday afternoon. Last night and this morning I have been so close to throwing up, but I usually just end up gagging. I'm okay if I'm sitting or lying down, but as soon as I stand up to do anything my tummy hurts something fierce. I was so concerned about NOT having m/s, I guess this is what I get! Oh, well. DH started his new job today, so he's gone every day this week for orientation. I was thinking of having my MIL come over, but sometimes that's more stressful than helpful!
This weekend was interesting. I've had 2 people come up to me and ask if I'm pregnant, which says to me I must be "showing" in some way. And yes, I posted a belly pic.
Other than that, crippling paranoia. I'm 8 weeks today and I'm so scared my ultrasound on Thursday will be bad, I had a dream this morning about spotting chunks. I don't think any of this is prophetic or anything like that, just a reaction to my paranoia. Still sucks though.
Other than that, exhausted, bloated, barfy, the whole 9 yards.
I just bought some maternity clothes online. I could not get myself to the store this weekend, and I have nothing. I also bought a diaper bag that I could not resist. I have a problem with diaper bags. I went through six with ds. I just could not find one I liked. Few diaper bags work for cloth diapers (including ones made for cloth diapering). There is just too much to carry around with you, and wet covers that are not exactly dirty need a special space to dry. All those extra clothes from leaks, and then needing a whole separate (but sizable) compartment for finger foods when the time came. I did not want my food anywhere near my wet bag.
Actually last night I was thinking a lot about the cloth diapering. I had a horrible time with cloth once ds was mobile. We had a lot of leaking with leaner diapers, and he had a really hard time moving around with the bulky diapers and covers. I was thinking that for the next baby we would only cloth for the first year. I used some disposables with ds when he was a newborn, and they are awful. They do not have an elastic around the top back, so poop just creeps right up the back. He would also pee through them all the time. For that reason, I definitely want to use the cloth for the early months. My friends all use prefolds, but it adds so much bulk. What are you all thinking about?

Did you try ginger candies or those preggo pops? I feel better just lying down too. If I could I would stay in bed all day.
Congrats to your dh on the new job! My mil makes me a little crazy too!

Well, I just went and checked out your photo again, and I would not guess pregnant just by looking at you. Perhaps you are glowing...when I was 3 dpo one of my friends said I looked different and asked if I was pregnant. I was!
Yay for 8 weeks!
Sorry about the paranoia. I had a dream that I was bleeding the other day too. Just like you it did not feel prophetic...just my fears.
Last night, I had a dream that I had the baby (a boy), and he looked just like Conan O'Brien (late night talk show host). I think I was married to him because I told the baby he looked just like his dad. I cannot wait to tell dh!
Yuk! I have a cold. I'm dealing, but my throat is really sore. I skipped going out with friends yesterday because of it though. I usually spend two Sundays a month in a coffee shop gossiping. Instead I sat here with hubby and played an online game called 2 Moons.
We're supposed to get some snow today. As long as it melts and there is no shoveling involved I'm all for it.
BlissfullyLoving- I'm with you on the water. I usually drink a ton of water, but I just can't right now. Lemon water works sometimes. Sometimes nothing is going to work.
I don't have any experience with cloth since when I son was a infant we lived with IL's and they basically told us we had to do diaper their way or none at all. They wanted us to soak them three times and then wash them. When I told them it's not done like that anymore she refused to listen. Since we were living with them(and I was not about to stand up to them)...I just gave up and used disposables. It'll be all trial and error of us this time around. I'm thinking mostly pre-folds to start out.
sunflwrmoonbeam- I'm really paranoid too. When I don't feel sick for more than an hour I begin to worry. Then I get hit like I did last night and I feel much better. LOL!
This weekend DF and I rented a little cottage and went "camping" and fishing. My all day nausea started Friday so DF spend the entire weekend taking care of me. He was so sweet getting up to get me water and crackers or a piece of fruit. I was just miserable. We both were happy though because this means good things hopefully. I drove back from OK (where DF is stationed) on Sunday and it was a MISERABLE drive. I think I spent the whole time looking for places to pull over the throw up. Anyhoo I arrived home and my mom was at my apartment (doggie sitting). Apparently she had painted my living room (DF and I were planning on it). And was cooking as well. Which leads me to believe that she DEFINITELY knows and isn't saying anything. She's started trying to take care of me in little ways like she did when I was pregnant last time. Few more weeks and we'll announce it, I just want to see the heartbeat. Other than that I'm just trying to bum around the house and force myself to try to drink more water.

Bliss, can you post a link to the diaper bag? I am super curious. I cloth diapered and I never had any serious issues with a regular diaper bag, but I guess I didn't go out too much/for long periods.
We will definitely continue to use cloth. But I should say that leaking is just not a huge issue for us.
DD was such a heavy wetter that she could pee through _anything_ so we just got used to it. I swear, she was one super well hydrated baby. We had hardwood floors/flor carpeting and it's all very easy to clean.
We used prefolds when she was a newborn and fitteds when she was a bit older. And she had the bare bottom a lot as well. She was actually very interested in early potty training, but didn't finish up potty training until a few months ago (she is 2 1/2).

Sorry for the cold.
I hope you feel better soon!
I love snow! I am so envious. Hopefully it will not be too much trouble.

My belly is definitely showing. I guess it is bloated too. I love it, but at the same time we are trying to keep it a secret for another month. I was with family yesterday, and I wore my outerwear sweater the entire time we were with them.

That sounds like a wonderful and horrible trip.
Your mom is so sweet! I love that even if she knows she is letting you have your time and space to tell her.

I'm sorry that you were so sick, but how cool is that that your mom is helping out without being asked to!

It was wonderful and horrible all at the same time. I have to admit that I have the worlds most amazing mother. We're very close and live 2 minutes away from each other so we spend a lot of time together. She takes good care of me when I need her. Can't wait to tell her.

Here is the bag I got: http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx...38|63096|63097. I got it because I like the style and look not because it is functionally better then the other ones I tried. I have my eye on one other bag too.
The leaking was a huge problem for us. It was not a big deal when we were home (although changing sheets in the middle of the night got old fast), but a grocery trip would lead to at least one outfit change. Ds was born in the fall, so being damp for a short time in the cold was not an option. I cannot even tell you how many times I had to wash that carseat cover. When we would go out for the day (at least once a week) I would have to bring an outfit per diaper change just in case.
This is where I had the most troubles with the diaper bag. Most bags have a couple of smaller compartments and then one large area. The large area would have to hold all the clean and dirty stuff because the smaller compartments would not hold all (or any) of the dirties. I would try to separate them by putting the cleans and dirties side by side, but inevitably things would get all pushed on top of each other. I would have to dig through the bag to find what I needed. Irr, I hate digging through bags (especially with a wiggly or crying baby while you are out). Even when it was only one bag of dirty clothes (when we used disposables) we would still end up with having to dig through the bag because the dirty/cleans were not adequately separated.
I used cloth with first 2, and through process of trial and error, I found that what worked best was the old fashioned diaper pins and plastic pants. I plan to go that route this time (if they still make old fashioned pants), and to use a diaper service.
Yeah, I'm definitely cloth diapering this time. I did a bit with Willow and enjoyed it.. just didn't have what I needed to keep it up... and had a ton of other stuff that had been bestowed upon me...
This time around i know what I need and what I don't. So that's nice.

DD was born in February, so I hear you on the damp/cold thing. I guess we just must not have gone out much that winter/spring.
DD was so hydrated that her pee was almost all water...so I have to confess that I did not wash her carseat cover every time it got damp. But then, we were living at the time in a very dry part of the world, so if it dried on its own and didn't smell afterwards I didn't worry about it.
I get night sickness instead of morning sickness! Which makes me think it's a girl even more, because I think my mom told me that she got night-sick when she was pregant with girls and morning sickness with boys.. I got morning sickness with DS..
Of course, I can't call her and talk to her about it (well, I can, but I am waiting to tell)
I'm feeling pretty normal. Tired but not sick at all yet. I'm a little nauseous but I'm not sure if it's just because I am hungry. I'm a little gassy also. I'm just happy that my progesterone came back ok right now. I'm feeling very positive about this pregnancy. My last pregnancy I was worried the whole time and than lost the baby. I feel like maybe I knew somehow. I looked up old poasts and in almost all of them I mentioned IF i have this baby or saying things like "I'm not entirely convinced I'm actually having a baby in December". I am thinking much more positive this time!
Spent a good portion of yesterday looking for midwives and such around here...found one that has been recommended by a lot of people (even moms on here!)...we have an appt Thursday to talk to her about finances and stuff...
I really loathe money sometimes... it can be a HUGE deal breaker.
The weekend was OK. Nausea seems to subsided a bit, or I've just figured out how to get it under control. It makes me nervous though, and we aren't planning an early ultrasound or anything so I guess I just have to ride it out. I think I might be getting a mild UTI or something too, so I'm going to try and drink cranberry juice for the next few days. I have the burps too. The worst is the DHA capsule fish burps. blah.
We had a birthday party for my Uncle Saturday and one for my Grandma Sunday so pretty much everyone knows now. It was fun because two of my other cousin's who were there too are due in April and May.
I'm super excited to cloth diaper this baby. I know experienced diaperers often like the prefolds and everything, but to make things as easy as possible I think we are going to go with fitteds and maybe a few pockets and all in ones. I hadn't even thought of what the diaper bag would need to be like yet!
I got up last night 4 or 5 times to pee
and woke up this morning so tired that I called in sick today.
It felt so good to go back to bed. I'm hoping I have more energy tomorrow, 'cause I can't take all week off.
Cloth diapering- I have a mix of both. I like PFs because they are cheap and I don't care if they get soiled as much. But we use AIO for when we go out, or for for un-experienced in cloth diapering caregivers. Even the other day when MIL was watching DS she thought a good diaper would be an insert with the cover
: I don't know what she was thinking when I have 50 diapers for her to choose from!

I'm going to have to give a class in cloth diapering 101 for any babysitters... lol

Yeah, I had multiple wet bags for diapers and clothes.
