My older son is 2 1/2, and I'm starting to think about preschools for him (and for DS #2, eventually!). Truthfully, I'm a bit baffled by all the options and want a good book that spells out the qualities and philosophies of Montessori, Waldorf, etc.

Any recommendations out there?? Thanks!

Hi Elyen. I have never seen a book that pulled all the philosophies into one book, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. For Waldorf, you may want to read You Are Your Child's First Teacher by Rahima Baldwin. There is also a website called www.openwaldorf.com that a lot of people get answers from about this approach. I wiill need to find out about a montessori website, or perhaps another of our members knows one. I do know that these educational philosophies are very different from each other, and that they do have some very specific methods, so it will be worth your while to do your research. After the holidays, I'm sure there will be more posting on here--it's been pretty quiet probably due to school vacations, etc.
