I posted this in the "Waldorf" forum, but thought I should post it here as well. Our family is contemplating a move to Santa Barbara and I need details on the area's public/charter schools. Our children have been attending a waldorf-inspired public school since kindergarten and I was wondering if anything similar exists in Santa Barbara. We can not afford private even with financial aid. Any info would be very appreciated!
http://www.sbcharter.org/ would probably work, with good if not stellar API

GFS is lottery based. Santa Barbara Charter might also be lottery based--I really don't remember, as I didn't look too closely at it. It's a great school, but we didn't want the extra drive time in the morning.
Other options: Hope School http://www.hopesdk6.org/ Peabody School (charter) http://peabodyschool.org/
If you don't know the geography of the area yet...Goleta and Santa Barbara are adjacent communities. Goleta is somewhat less expensive than SB.
Mom of two girls.
We have two kids at SB Charter School. It is a wonderful school and I would be glad to answer any questions you might have, just send me a message. The school has a lottery coming up in late January or early February so you need to get your applications in before that. It is hardest to get in at kindergarten level but sometimes higher grades, too.
