No, really not true. We are all worthy, whether or not we realize it. And other people's opinions don't change that.
I think the last time I was in a situation where I felt others were deciding my value based on my looks, I was in bar and I was about 22. It's just not real, day to day life. Not in my neighborhood, not in my work place, not in my DH's work place, etc.
Actually, I suspect that any people who believe such a thing are a tiny minority in the city I live in. It's a pretty liberal city, so people are more likely to be judged on what they've done for the environment or others.
May be you should move some place more liberal and forward thinking.
I also found the comments about "that's boys for you" and "that's girls for you" to just be odd. Here, boys can be girls, and girls can be engineers. It's a mixed up world.
And with that, I've pivoted my attitude to being happy that things are so open here that girls can show up half naked to school. Because boys can show up in girls clothes and no one thinks much of it. They tried calling a class "girls aerobics" this year, and a boy signed up. Which was fine. It's OK to be gay or transgendered.
