I'm looking into a school that is based on the Paideia "method". my dd will start K next year and to get in this school parents have to stand in line for 3+ days. Here in TN most of the public schools are in such bad shape. Parent involvement is very important at this Paideia school and I guess they feel the entry process will weed out some non-commented parents. The magnet schools in the area do a lottery system for admissions.
TIA

I don't know anything about the Paideia method, but I found this:

They sound pretty cool and are in GA but they are approx. $13,000 a year for elementary!

I take it that NC is trying out this method in some of their schools? I wonder if they are including the music and art that is also emphasized at the original school.

The school in GA came first in 1971 and this group formed in 1982 or so.

the school is part of the county school system and is considered a public school and is free. Though private schools do run $8-15K around here.
