dd will be 30 mo at the time of birth and DD will be 5 (hopefully, her birthday is July 5th. Im "due" the 8th) I liked this spacing the first time around. They play together so well now. dd is already more independent than DD was when she was born. DD will be way pumped to have a new baby. She keeps saying " I need a baby brother"

The new one will be 2 years 7 months younger than my son. It's due date is exactly 2 y 7 mo from his due date, but he was born a couple days early. Hopefully this one will follow suit!

I'm nervous about the spacing too because my son loves bed sharing and nursing. He's already having to adjust because I'm not allowed to do heavy lifting, and I'm the type of mama who usually carries him everywhere. It's very sad for me, but he's mostly coping with it OK.

I read McKenna's book about co-sleeping, and he says absolutely not to have a new baby in bed with an older child, so I'm not sure what to do about that. We tried having my son sleep in a side car when he was new, and he wanted none of that. I've thought about an Amby sleeper or something, but I guess we'll have to see what this next one wants.

Bed sharing, baby wearing, breastfeeding mama of Vonn (dob 12/9/07) and Reuben (dob 7/17/09).

5 years and 4 months to closest sibling.

Wanted it to be closer. My last EDD was DS's 5 th birthday but that didn't work out.

DD will be 7 years older than Sprout.

However we had similar spacing in my birth family. My brother and are are 18 months apart. My sister is 6 and 7.5 years younger than us. She and I are very close.

Me (42), DH (41), DD (7), DS1 (5) and DS2 Aug 02/09

You can have them in bed together, just not next to each other. So put the baby in the middle and the older child on the side (I'd get a guard rail for this) and you are fine.

Happily married to my dh, mama to ds1 (01/2005), ds2 (07/2007)  and dd (07/2009).

My 2nd child will be around 11.5 months younger than my first child. I had hoped they would be closer in age but I think this will be good.

My ds will be 3.5yrs old when baby #2 arrives.

We've been TTC for 1.5yrs, so in many ways I'm happy about the age differences as my ds is more independent now and will be starting kindergarten a few months after the new baby is born, giving me some time with the baby while he's in school in the mornings.

5 years 8 months.

we have had money issues, and didn't think it wise that we have another as i am the provider. now that DH is in pharmacy school, we can afford it, even if we have to go into debt. i didnt want to go back to work anytime soon, so we waited until that was possible.

Momma to DS 1, age 8 and rainbow baby DS2 4-21-11.

Yes, my DD and this new one will be 2.5y apart. I am also very nervous about the co-sleeping thing. DD is a major co-sleeper and although we have a king sized bed, it does not seem big enough now. I am having a hard time adding a newborn to the mix. I have considered using an actual co-sleeper (as in arms reach or something), as DD was in a cradle by the bed for the first few weeks. I dunno, but hoping the solution makes itself clear!

My youngest daughter will be 5 years and 1 month older than this baby. We wanted one sooner, but put it in God's hands and just didn't use any birth control in 4 1/2 years. We are hoping and praying that this baby is healthy and strong!

Well, I think I'm the winner so far. my youngest will be 8 at my due date, and my oldest will be 9.5. We had not planned on having such a big gap - but we had a stillborn son in January...

My kids are 17, 13, 10... and 15 months. So newbaby's oldest sibling will be nearly 18, and his/her youngest will turn two the month he/she is born :-)

My youngest two will be just shy of 2 years apart. Its my largest age gap yet!

As for the cosleeping, my first two were 17.5 months apart. I coslept with both of them from day 1. One on either side of me. As long as they were never next to each other during the itty-bitty-baby stage, I was ok with that. You'll work it out!

Nicole - Mom to FOUR healthy, happy, wild boys.
