Veganmama, glad that you're feeling better. I think that if you feel okay running that you shoudl continue. Perhaps doing some run/walking. I am really enjoying the elliptical... mostly because I don't feel quite so oafish when I'm on there!!

I started a prenatal yoga class last week, and it's helping with some of the back aches.

Lindayjean, so glad you're back to the gym And I LOVED your photos you posted in the thread about professional photos. Gorgeous

But, guys, I am really feeling ready to have this baby!! How is everyone doing with the weight gain?

At 34 weeks I've gained 15 pounds. Any of you experienced mamas have any ideas about how much I can expect to gain from here on out?

Wow
I am impressed ladies.
I have barely been able to walk for over a month now, let alone exercise!
And yes, I was in shale before I got pregnant, jogging several times a week.
It is just that my ligaments and pelvic area/hips go all wacky (clicking, opening and hurting) when I am pregnant, rendering me almost imobile.. *sigh*

I'm impressed, too! I haven't been able to complete a formal workout in a while. I started swimming a while ago, but now I get so much, shall we say, groin pain after that I only float around now! I get to yoga every so often, but not as much as I would like or need. I am doing a ton of physical work around our house (moving rooms around, digging out flower beds and moving rock, ect...) that I am too exhausted to think about working out on top of all that!

Thanks everyone for your advice. The chiro (who ran the day she delivered both her babies) said to maybe try elliptical first and see how that goes. Blech, I hate elliptical and I don't have one at home so that means going to the gym and extra few days a week.

So hot in my office today that is they don't fix the heat in here I am going to go home.....

Don't mess with the grumpy PG lady!

So glad the move is done Lindsay! That must be a huge relief.

I went for a run last night. Just 15 minutes because I didn't want to push it, it has been 5 weeks. Very, very happy. Also very very sore. I must have been using my inner thigh mscles to stabilize myself becasue they are killing me today!

Glad to hear it, veganmama. I know what you mean about the elliptical... I hadn't used one before pregnancy, but I can't row or bike so am making do. I am still able to do quite long sessions - around 6 miles or so - but I am a lot slower. This past couple of days, though, I've been experiencing what I think is low blood sugar towards the end of the workout. Yesterday I had to stop as I felt terrible all of a sudden. Eating helped... but I had eaten before exercising, so don't know what's going on.

ANyone else experienced this? Also, could it be that because everything is smooched up I'm just eating less and thus there's less blood sugar circulating or stored?

Zubee, I do get lightheaded sometimes while working out with the trainer (once a week). I take a break until it passes. I am not sure whether it is a blood sugar thing (I don'tusually get to eat my lunch before I come) or something to do with our increased blood volume. Or something else.

Here is my little brag for the week. I work my little LuluLemom yoga shorts to the gym on Friday. Since the waist is so stretchy they still fit and I haven't gained much weight in my legs so they still look good. My trainer insisted on taking a picture of me. She said I was the picture of a healthy PG woman, never mind a healthy 42 year old mother of 2 soon to be 3 PG woman.
It was nice.

I spend too much time walking at my job, that I'm not interested now in going for a walk or jogging. So, I have switched over to swimming. I swim now on Tuesdays and Fridays. It feels so good. I swam laps for 30 minutes on Friday and then floated around in the lazy river in the laziest mode possible- hanging over two noodles and not moving a muscle. Normally I swim around. As the water carried me round and round, I realized why it was called the lazy river. The water was a great temp and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Veganmama, POST a pic!! Would love to see you in your awesome fit form

I played tennis on Sunday - and it was so much better than I expected. I was up 4-0 against my DH but then strated to worry about the baby (you know when you attach yourself to an idea that something is wrong and no matter what you cannot shake it...). I lost concentration and the monkey took full advantage!! I posted some pics of me playing tennis on my blog!!! I am also wearing my pre-pregnancy shorts.

I find that I get lightheaded when I am doing more endurance work.. anything close to an hour on the elliptical. I tried eating a banana half way through the other day and I don't think it helped much... so I may just cut back by a mile and see how that goes.

Today a 4 mile warmup on the elliptical, weights, and this evening a prenatal yoga class. I'm feeling pretty good. Only 5 weeks to go!! I am READY!

I can't say how much I love the pool. Before I hoped in the pull I was tired and achy. I didn't even plan on lap swimming, I just wanted to play around in the water and relax. But, afterwards, I felt great. I did lap swim about 30 laps. Then I floated in the lazy river.

The water is nice and cool. It relaxes all of my muscles. I swim in the evenings because it is cheaper and being in water makes me sleepy. So last night I sleep so peaceful and my tummy was pain free. I could roll over without a single ache. I just wanted to say, it was a very nice feeling.

So glad you enjoyed the swim, curious&eager I did swim last week and didn't feel as graceful as I hoped I might!! But after prenatal yoga I noticed that I had fewer aches and pains in the night :yay

Where are you, fit mamas? It's been quiet in this thread lately. I have cut back on the walking a bit, mostly because by the evening I am bushed. I'm still gym-ing almost every morning. But, geesh, I feel like a house right now! I am willing the next few weeks away!

I'm still hitting the gym 4-5 days a week. A little harder with the kids out of school to fit it in my schedule but I'm trying to make it a top priority. I did go about 3 days last week without exercising and I suddenly had some leg swelling. It's gone now but I wonder if it was from not working out?
I was super motivated this morning in my body pump class. It's at 5:45 am and there were two other very pregnant mommas in there! It's so nice not to be the only pregnant one in the class. I'm starting to get some strange looks since I'm so huge now - almost 35 weeks.

Zubee- I've gained about 14-15 lbs, last pregnancy I gained 20lbs total. I think it depends greatly on the individual, I know some just as fit mamas who gain way more and it is perfectly normal. I seemed to bounce back really quickly and still gave birth to a big 8lber so it was right for me- seems like I am on track to gain about the same amount this time.

We're out of town this week so no going to the gym, but lots of exercise! My husband is the speaker at a summer camp so 2 y.o. DD and I are tagging along. Although I must say I am missing my yoga class!!

veganmama- I definitely think you need to post a pic of yourself, and in those shorts too I love lululemon, I almost took a job working for them... free yoga was HARD not to pass up.

I am definitely still at the gym every day when I'm home. It's just part of the routine now. Haha- I wonder if they gym daycare people are wondering if I gave birth since we're out of town for the week.... and then I get to show up still pregnant again next week. Oh goody LOL.

I'm almost 36 weeks and yesterday I had gained 16 pounds to this point. I feel pretty good about it.. the babe is measuring right on track in terms of fundal height, and my scan a couple of weeks ago put him already at 5 1/2 pounds! I have another growth scan tomorrow (I have lupus and am having weekly scans).

Heading to the gym now!

Keep going, fit mamas!

Well, I have gained more than you guys. 22 lbs at 34w3d. I am Ok with that though. I always pack it on at the end! I gained 47 lbs with DS even though I ran until I was 8 months PG! He was a big baby (9 lb 5 oz) and a BIG nurser too. I lost it all and more.

I woul dpost a pic if a) I had one (I never think to bring my camera to work!) and b) I knew how to do it!

In the last week I have started to feel fat though. I can see it a little in my legs although I doubt anyone else can.

Plus I am so freaking hot all the time.

The pol sounds lovely curious& eager. I am an ex-competitive swimmer so I am totally in my element there. So hard to do when you ahve 2 little ones at home though!

Will "run" tonight. I am down to four 7 minute intervals with a 90 second walk break in between.

I've got you all beat. That makes me happy. I'm up 26 pounds so far. Granted, I am 37 weeks, but your comments make me feel more pregnant. I am still so little so this feels nice. My belly is small. This is the first month were most people now notice that I'm pregnant. It is a cute ball though.

Apparently my chiropractor saw me running on Tuesday night. Which is kind of embarrassing becasue she is an ultrmarathoner who ran on her delivery date with both her kids.

Too funny, her DH pointed me out as they were driving by since he knows she loves to see PG women running and she recognized me. My kids and their kids are friends so we know each other socially a little bit too.

I'm still working out twice a week but I'm up 30+ lbs since my pre-PG weight! Anyway, everyone tells me I look great and they can't tell that I've gained any extra weight. My butt is much bigger, but I guess I camouflage it well. I gained 45 lbs with my first PG (working out throughout that one, too) so I figured I'd put on a few lbs with this one.

I dropped out of yoga a few weeks ago because it was too frustrating. It's an intermediate yoga class (not prenatal yoga) and our instructor is very athletic in her approach. I was so clumsy and couldn't keep up with the class, I just didn't feel I was getting the same benefits anymore. Yoga never fails to relax me, but lately it wasn't relaxing at all. And normally, I'm the kind of person who can laugh through a challenging yoga class (when I'm non-PG).

I'm still doing cardio on the elliptical for 25 mins and weight machines where I can, or free weights when I can't fit in the weight machine. The tachycardia has started but it's still mild so I'm hanging in there. When it starts to get difficult, I'll have to cut back on the cardio.

This is my first pregnancy, so I don't have anything to compare my weight gain to, but it sounds as though no matter wat you do, your body puts on what it wants!! I think we're all doing very well indeed

I have been feeling much more energized lately. I don't know where it's coming from.. alas, I'm not using it wisely - say on nesting! Yesterday evening we played tennis and I beat my husband!!! It was a lot of fun. We took some photos and, boy, do I look a lot more inelegant than I felt!

Not too much longer to go. Yippee!

I am feeling GREAT lately... which makes me think I am going to have this baby late.... but I guess that might not mean that, right?? I don't know why I feel like I should be miserable in order to be nearing labor haha. I have 2 weeks until I'm even considered fullterm though so I suppose...

Yeah, as far as weight gain goes... I think we all just gain differently. Some people need to gain more and some people less. I have a freakishly high metabolism and I tend to throw up a lot with pregnancy, so I think that makes it hard for me to put a ton on. Nursing shrank me down waaaaay to thin though- I wasn't actually even able to get pregnant this time until I put on a teeny bit of weight (up to 114lbs when I got pregnant- and I'm 5'5''.... yeah I shrunk and I EAT too). Luckily it does not seem to affect the size of my babies- my DD was over 8lbs to everyone's astonishment because my belly never gets SUPER huge (although I sure feel like it is right now!!)

I went to spin tonight and for the first time really couldn't keep up at all. Had a few contractions throughout class and just had to go very easy. Pretty frustrating but I am 35 weeks so it's to be expected I guess. I'll try again Saturday morning and if that is terrible just hang up my spin shoes for the next month or so - bummer.
I'm still going strong in my yoga class and my weight class. Hopefully will be able to keep those up the next couple of weeks. Wish it wasn't so horribly hot or I would just start walking outside. Where we live is just way too hot and humid for any type of outdoor exercise being this pregnant.

I have gained different amounts of weight in each PG and worked out through all 3 of them so I kind of think it the baby who determines how much weight you put on to a certain extent.

With DD I gained 22 lbs and she was 6lb 9 oz and weighed 17lb 4 oz on her first birthday. To this day (she will be 7 in a few weeks) she is very petite and only weighs 42 lbs. I ran until I was 7.5 months and then switched to swimming due to sacra-iliac pain.

DS is a bruiser. He has outweighed his sister since he was 8 months and she was 28.5 months! I put on 47 lbs with him. He was 9 lb 5 oz and weighed almost 30 lbs on his first birthday. He is 52 lbs at 5.25 years. I ran until I was 8 months and then switched to swimming becasue I was too fat to run!

I ate very healthily with both PG but I was STARVING all the time with DS.

Now at 35 weeks I have gained 23 lbs. Sacra-iliac pain is gone and I am still running.

Hoping this baby weighs less than DS!

Ran 25 minutes last night (still rebuilding gently from my 5 weeks hiatus from running) and my inner thighs are sore. I guess I am using them to stabilize.

Personal trainer session today and I will try to make it to yoga. Friday's class is pretty relaxing (Hatha). Wednesdays class (power) is brutal now but I am too stubborn to give it up! At least there is another PG woman in that class!

Very interesting, veganmama... I had read somewhere about the baby's size being somewhat genetically determined, so it definitely makes sense to me. I'm expecting a little boy and he is already a bruiser - according to the ultrasound I had this week. At 36 weeks he was guesstimated to be 6 pounds 8oz!!

I have been experiencing a lot of cramping this past couple of days and had a very restless night. I decided to skip the gym and went swimming instead. I'm keeping mostly to breast-stroke as it seems to be the most comfortable stroke. I swam a mile and felt that all over body fatigue that comes with swimming. I am ready for a nap!

I am going to force myself to do some prenatal yoga this evening as I am feeling pretty stiff.

I went for my swim today purposely hoping that it would put me into nighty nighty land. I want snoozing hard soon after a few days of poor sleep.

I love swimming, especially in late pregnancy. I just wish there was a pool I could go to on an ad hoc basis downtown here so I could go right after work. But they all seem to require a membership, even the hotel pools. Um, I am due in less than amonth, why woul dI buy a membership, I won't be coming downtown for awhile.

Didn't run last night because it was stinking ht but mostly because I am having a lovely hemmoroid flare up. Oh the joys of pregnancy, especially of a pregnancy after you have spent 2.5 hours pushing a 9lb 5 oz bbay out of yourself.

Still chugging along here! Not a good workout here this morning.. My legs felt like tree trunks! mostly I was sleep deprived, I think, as I had a fairly good workout yesterday...

Prenatal yoga this evening.. and I'll try for a swim tomorrow, I think.

How's everything feeling? I saw my Dr. yesterday and I am just a bit dilated (maybe 1cm). She said he could come any day.. or in 3-4 weeks!!! Since this is our first we're full of anticipation!

Anyone planning on upping their walking, etc. as due dates draw in?

I don't think I really can up my walking much more than I'm doing, but I do remember walking the mall with DH last pregnancy (it was the MIDDLE of winter and we lived in SD... Brrrrr). She still came after her due date, but I know the exercise contributed to good positioning and easy(-ish haha) and fast labor.

I'm feeling GREAT for being 9 months pregnant. Which sort of makes me nervous that it's going to be a while yet until he makes his entrance. I'm cleared for homebirth starting next week when I turn 37 weeks, but I don't anticipate ANYTHING before like MAYBE 39 weeks. I'd like to have him early though since my husband has to go out of town for a whole stinking week in early August so I'll be alone with a toddler and newborn and I'd like the newborn to be a little less newborny haha. But my mantra is this: my baby knows exactly how and when to be born and I will be patient

I need to get to the actual gym tomorrow... we've been out of town and I bet they think I've gone into labor since nobody actually really knows how far along I am. Oh I'll feel really cool showing up there still pregnant (Not!!).

I try to have the same mantra

I hear you on the gym... and not showing up and people thinking you're maybe in labor! The marathon runner pregnant woman - also occasional trainer at the gym - was constantly being monitored by everyone... If I didn't see her I felt sure she'd gone into labor. I eventually befriended her on FB so I would be in the loop!!! Now it's everyone's turn to wonder about me as I am the next pregnant woman in line. Incidentally, this very fast runner ((3:15 marathoner) was 9 days late.. and was in labor for FIFTY hours! I have to believe that this is an outlier and all of us fit mamas will sail through a quick and easy birthing experience
