My midwife told me the other day that the PH in my urine is more alkaline than acidic and that is probably why I feel a little "off" down there and may be contributing to my heartburn. She told me to drink a tablespoon of cider vinegar or lemon juice mixed with a little water each morning and then wait 30 minutes before I consume anything else.

Sounds simple, right? Except that first thing in the morning, my gag reflex is extremely strong and I cannot hold either of these things down. As soon as I swallow, it comes right back up. : And I guess it really needs to be taken on a truly empty stomach to work.

Has anyone else heard of this remedy? Or know of any alternatives? I don't think I can keep doing this!

Wow. I don't know anything about the PH, but I drank apple cider vinegar a lot with my last pregnancy to handle heartburn, and it worked well.

Another guy I see said that it is a lack of enzymes, and when I have bad heartburn, if I take Standard Process zypan. It works REALLY well.
