I'm 6 weeks 4days pregnant. I started spotting last night just brownish and watery and only when I wiped, but this morning there was more and it was more reddish and some small clotty bits (sorry if it's tmi). I'm really upset. It's got me very worried. I had spotting when I was pregnant with dd and it was around the same time (some time between 5 and 7 weeks) but I don't remember exactly how it was, it seems so long ago now. I'm not really having any cramping, but the blood is scary to see. So I guess my question is how do I know if I'm having a mc? Part of the issue is we have just moved and I don't have a doctor or midwife yet, so I don't have a professional to call. I almost want to go to the ER just to get checked out so I know what's happening. I'm trying to stay off my feet as much as possible, and dh is coming home from work soon to help with dd. Any way any advice, info or support is appreciated.

I'm going through something similar right now, hon.

I don't really know what to do at this point... I'm going to take a pregnancy test after the bleeding goes away...but I'm also going Monday to get a blood test.

*hugs*

I'm sorry that you are going through this. Bleeding is different in every pregnancy so you may want to go in just to get it checked out for piece of mind. I would if I was in your situation.

I had brown spotting this week, and on the second day I went in to see my OB. The baby was fine, and I just feel more at ease now.

I had brown spotting with my dd at 7 weeks and a gush of bright red blood (like a small period that lasted for about four days) at 13 weeks.

Try not to worry too much.

Loving my DH and my two active little girls (9/06), (6/09). Anticipating a new bundle of joy (7/11).

There are many reasons why you may be spotting. Other than taking good care of your self there is not much you can do about it.
I had spotting, and times of light red bleeding from weeks 5-9 of my pregnancy with my third son. I was really worried I would loose him, but he hung in there. Later we found his attachment was on the very edge of my cervix (probably why I was bleeding) His attachment moved up later in the pregnancy (pretty common)

You may want to research progesterone supplimentation in pregnancy. I have chronicly low progesterone, and have used injections to support my body in early pregnancy. I don't have any insurance this time so just using natural progesterone cream.

well, it doesn't look good. we just spent all day at the Urgent care and then getting an ultrasound and bloodwork at the hospital. The ultrasound was "inconclusive" but they couldn't see anything in my uterus though and so they said it most likely a miscarriage. I'm supposed to go back in on Sunday, so they can take more blood and compare my hormone level to those from today. I don't have much hope of anything though. I still haven't had what the dr's described as "heavy bleeding" or true cramping, but the dr said that it may just have been so early that their wasn't a lot. Anyway thanks for the support. I'll let you all know if there's anything more definitive in the next couple days.

Awww hon

I'll be doing my bloodwork on Monday. I've been just waiting for the inevitable at this point.
Much love to you.

Willowsmom,

I'm sorry to you too. Sometimes I think the wait is harder than knowing. I hope things are good for you on Monday. I had a week of spotting/bleeding with dd and everything turned out fine with her. The doctor said it's about 50% of all patients with some bleeding in 1st trimester will still go on to have healthy pregnancies. Good luck to you.

Juniper - Thank you, hon. We'll see. I think I've made my peace with the possibility that this pregnancy is a wash. It actually is irritating more than sad, now. Or perhaps I'm just in denial.

At any rate, many hugs to you and yours.
