We are looking for boy names. Any suggestions?
I like:

Patrick - i like it and it reminds me of an Irish boy
Gabriel - It seems biblical to me
Oliver - I like this but its not a name I would use. It does remind me of Oliver twist a bit though. Or that prank phonecall "Oliver clothesoff"

I like this thread and the honest opinions. I hope nobody is feeling offended. I appreciate the honest feedback, especially about Kali. What do you all think of:

Shiloh

It reminds me of a dog. I have a beagle, DH wanted one after reading the book Shiloh. But it really is a nice name, and I bet others don't think of it as a dogs name.

Alright-I am going to respond to this before I read anyone else's response.

Andrea-to plain, but ok
Amos-reminds me of a 35 yr old man with black curly hair and a thick mustashe-also sounds hispanic? Is it?
Alfred-Please, please don't name your child this unless you want him to be someone's butler.
Forest-Remind me of Forest Gump, but I have heard that for the next generation they do not have that association at all, so it is ok. I love that name.
Julius-Too girly and wimpy (I know, despite the history connection).
Geronimo-please, please don't name your baby this. Please. It is cruel.
Ephraim-? I prefer names that the kid won't always have to explain.
Ralph-Reminds me of throwing up
Ruben-Just screams "dork"
Troy-I don't like it, but it is not awful

Andrea - I don't love it or hate it. It's not my taste. I do think Andy is a cute nickname for a girl though.
Amos - Pregnant brain immediately thinks of cookies
Alfred - It's an old man's name and not one I'm fond of. And Alf was that annoying alien from the 80's tv show.
Forest - I love Forest as a name. Are we far enough removed Forest Gump to not hear "Run Forest! Run!" yet? Cause I really love this name.
Julius - Orange Julius, Julius Caesar. It's not a bad name.
Geronimo - Something you yell as you jump off the diving board
Ephraim - As biblical names go, I like it and it's not common. There will be spelling and pronunciation issues though.
Ralph - I had a dog named Ralph, so that's my first association.
Ruben - Not bad
Troy - Don't like it, but it's more of a personal taste thing.

Also reminds me of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. But, for her generation, it probably won't, unless Shiloh becomes famous. Is it Shy-low?

Patrick -Don't like it at all, but it is not awful, just too common
Gabriel -I have always love this name, but they the little boy in Pet Cemetary was named Gabe, and that ruined it a little bit. And then I met someone named Gabe, so that totally ruined it. I think it is great, though.
Oliver - I LOVE this name. Dh would not even consider it bc he thinks it is wimpy. I think it may be too popular now? Either way, love it!

Andrea Will it be On-dray-a or And-ree-a? This was really popular when I was kid (born 1980) so now it seems outdated without being old enough to be classic
Amos I like this name. It does remind me of the disney cartoon Ben and Me. Amos was the little mouse who befriended Ben Franklin and helped him with his discoveries.
Alfred Is that someone's butler's name? Batman maybe? I don't like it.
Forest I like it except for the association to Forrest Gump. I don't think I would do it because of that. But I have considered it.
Julius I prefer Julian which is one of my all time favorite names and part of the reason I named my dd, Juliette. I like the nickname Jules. Also I personally associate Julius with a character in the Beetle Bailey cartoons (which I read a ton as a child because my grandmother kept a large collection of the books). Also how do you feel about the association with Julius Caesar?
GeronimoI don't think so
Ephraim It's unusual, but I think it would grow on me if I knew someone with this name.
RalphNo, no, no, please NO!
Ruben The sandwich?
Troy This is a good solid name. I don't think I love it enough to consider it myself, but it has pleasant connotations for me.

Jennifer, mama to darling dancing Juliette, and sweet baby Jameson

Andrea - depends on how you pronounce it. And-rea or An-Drea. I lik the 2nd not the first. Weird I know
Amos - Nope old dude sounding name
Alfred - I second the butler comment - how about Anton
Forest - Might grow on me
Julius - Like it. It was on my list but DH vetoed
Geronimo - Please don't. Sounds like a joke
Ephraim - nope, can't spell it or pronounce it.
Ralph - like when you throw up .
Ruben - Like it
Troy - like it

Andrea: It's not used very often anymore, but I don't think it's a pretty name.
Amos: Big, fat, & low I.Q.
Alfred: Tall, snotty servant
Forest: Run, Forest, Run! Nope. Not a good name yet.
Julius: I like it, but I wish I knew your last name
Geronimo: Are you native American? Is your last name Native? Otherwise, nope.
Ephraim: It doesn't sound like a name, it sounds like an chorus - in French we call it a "refrain".
Ralph: Ugh. It reminds me of A Christmas Story - old school, but outdated.
Ruben: Don't some people call a sub a Reuben? Not a real name anymore, IMO.
Troy: I know a Troy and he's a nice man. I'm OK with it, but again, it has to go with your last name.

Andrea - I have a bad association with the name. I've never known a nice andrea.
Amos- sounds way too close to anus
Alfred - too old fashioned for me
Forest - I immediately think of Forest Gump
Julius - Caesar? Orange Julius? Not a fan
Geronimo - Not for me
Ephraim - doesn't sound like a name to me
Ralph - as in throw up?
Ruben - I think of the guy from American Idol and I don't even watch the show.
Troy - probably the only name on the list that's OK, IMO

I totally forgot to add that her middle name will be Stuart (my mil just died and dh claims that her name comes from being a royal stuart). Her name was Dolores, and we called her Dee, but Dolores literally means "painful" and we would never use that name. But if you know of any variations...

Okay, so I will start, feel free to tell me any associations you might have. My son's name is Elijah and our last name is Potter.

Annabelle or Annabella

I like Forest & Ephraim out of your names. I actually knew a Geronimo growing up- he was a sweet, soft spoken guy- so that name has a nice connotation to me- not just doing cannonballs and the Apache chief. The others I don't like.

Thanks for all the feedback on my names!
I didn't realize Julia Roberts named a kid Hazel. Oh well, I liked it first!

Shiloh: No, first b/c of the Pitt child. Second, b/c of the famous kid's book about the dog Shiloh.
