Girl:
Phoebe (sparkling, the shining one, also greek goddess of the moon) - Friends character, not a bad association necessarily
Daylin (Beautiful day) - I'm so so on it, not bad, not great
Genevieve (white wave, woman of the ppl) - I like this one
Jillian (youthful) - Evil next door neighbor when I was a little kid, so the name is ruined for me.
Maranda (wonderful, admirable, and on this list because randomly selected by hubby) - I like "Miranda", but not Maranda. And do you mind "Randy" as a nickname? Because I can see that happening.

Boy:
Kedron (of the ceders. there are a lot of cedars here we live in cedar creek and the head waters for little cedar creek is on our farm. how would you pronounce this? Prob. Ked-Ron though when I say it, it sounds more like kedren) - I don't like it.
Paxton (peace, nickname option of Pax) -Oooo, I like Paxton
Edisto (water) - No, just no.
Aden (little fire) - You'd be correcting the spelling a lot and all of the "aden" boys names are really popular right now Jaden, Braden, Kaden, etc
Teagan (little poet) - It's okay
Korbin (raven, also like though not crazy about the meaning and hubby randomly selected) - The name of the main character in The Fifth Element. That's not a bad thing to me, it's just the first thing I think of.

Those 3 names were the ones I posted. One of them is Oliver- and one of my cats is named Oliver.:
But we haven't called him Oliver in years as his name switched to Mr. Bird about 10 years ago. But still, they'd have the same name.

Mallory - I love this name. Does remind me of the character on Family Ties, but that's so long ago, I don't think it makes a difference.

Catherine - I prefer "Katherine" and "Kate"

Micah - Male character on Heros

Finley - I like it

Leah - I pronounce it LAY-ah and I like it

Anna Catherine "Anna Cate" - Again, I prefer it with a K, but other than that I love double first names for girls.

Quinn - I think of it as a boys name, but it works either way.

What do you think of these names? Please be honest.

Andrea- I don't love it, but I don't hate it
Amos- I associate with Tory Amos, but with a good meaning behind it I could really like this.
Alfred- Alfie is cute, but now I do have Alfred Hitchcock's profile stuck in my head after the pp's comment. I could get over that though and like this name
Forest- I like it, it's on my list
Julius- naw
Geronimo- definitely would want to yell it, not say it.
Ephraim- would you pronounce this "f-ram"? What's the meaning? It could grow on me.
Ralph- another name for vomit
Ruben- one of my favorite sandwiches, also a good name
Troy- like it
mousa- I like Fern. It's not old lady-ish. Also on my list for a girl. Hazel is nice too, but to me is more old lady-ish than Fern. I guess it depends on which old ladies you know!

my "brutal honesty" :

Top picks right now:
Annabelle or Annabella--annabelle is cool, annabella, too much of a mouthful i think
Amelia (too common now?)--perhaps--but it's nice
Lucia (Lucy)--unless you're a redhead, nah!
Sun--not diggin it. ppl might see it on paper and assume it's asian--"soon"
Eva--don't like it, but i'm not sure why

Secondary picks:
Stormy (go ahead, rip it apart )--i had a toy plastic horse named that when i was 10. too cliche methinks
Delilah--OMGOMGOMG this is my fave name EVAH. you just earned 10-zillion coolpoints
Madiline--i dont like the spelling. puts me in mind of dill pickles.
Adaline or Adalaide--love these both very much
Juliet--yep yep--classy
Amelie--again, classy and a touch worldly--cool

Molly = pure/uncut form of ecstasy

Though, that's so far removed from where I am in my life, that I had to think about it for a minute or two. Doesn't kill the name for me though.

Finn- love it
Tanner- cute but I keep thinking of cowhide tanning

all work well with Hayes

Girl:
Molly- cute
Bridget- really like this with middle name
Clara- ok but like the first two more
Johanna- don't like it with middle name Hayes... I stumble over it, like I have a mouthful of marshmallow fluff.

Middle name will be "Hays" for a boy or a girl and our last name is three syllables, starts with Mc and ends with an L sound.

Catherine "Cate"- Love this name- we've considered it. LOVE Cate with a C
Micah- I only know this as a boy's name
Finley- no, sounds like a last name.
Leah - OK
Anna Catherine "Anna Cate"- Like Cate better
Quinn- Eh, kinda cute but nothing special

I'm definitely open to suggestions.

Elliot- like it

Tanner- No, but I don't like those repurposed "occupation" names that are now first names: Hunter, Tanner (leather worker), Cooper (barrel maker), Walker (fuller of cloth), etc.

Girl:
Molly- like it, cute
Bridget- again, interesting . Not common but not "made up"
Clara- No
Johanna- Eh

I can't figure out the multiquote thing for multiple pages but bear with me:

I like Lola as a form of Delores, but not Lolita (promiscuous connotations)

springsun: I also like Simone

for my list:

Kedron has a biblical association? What is it? Though we've moved to the southeast and although I'm not sporting a southern accent I do see it being pronounced Ked-RON with a big sort of twang. Maybe this will be moved to the middle name list.

Also agree with Aden being very popular right now, still cute, but good point.

Korbin : Sorry I hear Bernsen in my head <- who is that?

Edisto- not Hispanic, actually Native American and yes my husband has the heritage to back it up, though not enough for a college scholarship thinking it is more of a middle name anyhow.

I'll have to think about the boy names some more. Thanks for the feed back everyone!

Hayeser: don't really like any of the girl names- sorry Especially not Micah- I knew a slimeball boy version in college, ick. Anna Cate is cute but Anna Catherine is very Catholic sounding to me. Most of my fam would love it, but I'm not such a good Catholic Finnely and Quinn could definitely grow on me (esp. since your dd has a neutral name.)

G'night! Not getting any work done anyhow.

Oliver - I LOVE this name. Dh would not even consider it bc he thinks it is wimpy. I think it may be too popular now? Either way, love it!
Actually his name was Gage.

Julius: I like it, but I wish I knew your last name
Geronimo: Are you native American? Is your last name Native? Otherwise, nope.
Ephraim: It doesn't sound like a name, it sounds like an chorus - in French we call it a "refrain".
Ralph: Ugh. It reminds me of A Christmas Story - old school, but outdated.
Ruben: Don't some people call a sub a Reuben? Not a real name anymore, IMO.
Troy: I know a Troy and he's a nice man. I'm OK with it, but again, it has to go with your last name.
I should have posted. Nelson is the last name. Goes with alot of things. And yes, my husband is Native American, Cherokee. That is probably the only reason I would even consider Geronimo for my child. Yeah, it is a weird name, but my DH loves it.

Boy:
Asher I like it, but not enough to use it personally
Elliot I kind of like it, but I am having a hard time knowing what the nickname would be. Might be a strange one.
Finn Sounds like a good middle name since it sounds like it needs to be Finn...ished
Tanner hate it

Girl:
Molly love it
Bridget I really dont like it
Clara cute name
Johanna Great name! But that is my name, and I am never called that. Everyone calls me Hanna (without an H at the end. I sometimes wish I was called Hanna to begin with because it is such a pain when I get called Johanna during times when I use my full name (on official paperwork)

Boy:
Kedron Sounds too weird to me. It may be good as a middle name if you really have to use it
Paxton Sounds like a last name. Would your kid be called Pax?
Edisto no way
Aden no
Teagan no, but I knew a really wild child named that, and I just think of that

Just had to comment on a couple choices:

Stormy
think this will give an awful first impression, just reading the name. Think of teacher reading class list for upcoming year. Sunny would be a much better choice.

Madiline - do not care for funky, unique spellings of names. Not fair to the child.

Kim , mom to Amanda (16):, William (13), and Annie (5)

Reed -- LOVE IT! I'd totally use it if it didn't sound bad with our LN. But I'd spell it Reid.
Kade - Love it, but DH veto'ed it. But I'd spell with a C. K's just seem more feminine to me.
Cole - Nice!!

You can't go wrong with those choices

My cat from when I was a kid is still living (barely!) with my parents. I named it Sam. I also named my firstborn Sam. I caught a tiny bit of flack about it, but whatever. Now the cat goes by "Sam the cat" a lot of the time. I have to admit, I've been caught off guard a few times when we've been over there and my mom says something like, "Sam's throwing up on the carpet again," or when she looks out her window toward the 4-lane boulevard they live on and asks, "Who let Sam out?" But mostly it's okay.

Andrea-seems a little dated
Amos-I know a dog named Amos, so it sort of ruins it for me personally, but since you apparently *don't* think of a dog when you hear that name, I think I like it for you.
Alfred-My father, brother, and nephew are all Alfreds. While it gives me a sort of warm feeling for this reason, they go by Jim or AJ, Al, and Buddy, respectively--which I think says a lot about the name.
Forest-I'm not personally into it, but I think the Forest Gump association is a moot point--his peers will not think of Forest Gump when they hear his name.
Julius-I like it, but I like Julian better.
Geronimo-No.
Ephraim-No.
Ralph-I think it's almost "out" enough to be "in." That said, I would never use it myself.
Ruben-Might be okay.
Troy-No, no, no. It's probably my personal associations--as in, not ex-boyfriend personal or anything like that, just the few Troys I've known have all been a particular "type"--but I hate this name.

My favorites on this list are Julius, Amos and Forest.

Reed--Okay--don't love it, don't hate it.
Kade--I like it.
Cole--I like it a lot. A few years ago, I considered it. At the time, I felt it was becoming too popular, but I think it might have just been who I knew at the time, because it's certainly less popular than the name I chose (Sam).

Asher--Not my favorite, but I know a kid named Asher and he's painfully uninteresting to me.
Elliot--This is our current top-pick if we have a boy. So, I like it!
Finn--I love this name.
Tanner--Nah.

Girl:
Molly--Boo. I know lots of people think this is such a cute name, but I have a cousin who has ruined it for me. I still think I wouldn't like it, though, if it weren't for her. Not sure why...I just don't. (And I swear the fact that it's my mother-in-law's name has nothing to do with it.)
Bridget--No way.
Clara--Best girl name on this list. I really like it.
Johanna--I'm sure this is a perfectly good name, but the only Johanna I know is a Duggar.

Phoebe--Like it. Don't love it.
Daylin--Okay. - wouldn't like the nn Day
Genevieve--Cute. I like the French pronunciation much better: Gen-vee-EV. But that would probably be really pretentious.
Jillian--Not into it.
Maranda--No.

Boy:
Kedron--It's okay...
Paxton--Okay.
Edisto--No.-
Aden--Objectively I like it, but if I hear of one more little Aidan (any spelling), I'm going to scream. Do you want me to scream?
Teagan--My favorite on your list.
Korbin--Okay with a C.

Okay, here is the beginning of our list...I may add more later. We haven't really talked much about names this time around. We sort of identified our favorites at the beginning of the pregnancy, and then haven't talked about it much since.

Girls:
Fiona
Vera
(Those are our top two choices right now; below are some "leftovers" from our other pregnancies that we haven't really considered this time around but that, theoretically, are back on the table this time
Amelie
Flora
Evelyn
Sylvia
