My DS is five weeks old and has been sleeping pretty well for me to this point. About 3-4 hours at night, then nurse/change, then 2 hours, nurse/change, then 1-2 hours until we get up. During the day, he never really had a schedule but could stay awake for hours with only little 45 minute naps now and then. For the past two days, all he has done is sleep. He's been going 3-4 hours between feedings and falls asleep right after we nurse and then sleeps until the next feeding then repeats. He will stay awake for 1-2 hours when we first get up in the morning but that's the most he's been awake for the past two days. He still follows his same sleep pattern at night. Should I be worried? No signs of illness, eating well, just sleeping. As a first time mom, I get worried about any change. Maybe I just need some reassurance. Thanks!

Sounds like a normal growth spurt to me. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Normal, totally normal. As long as they wake up enough to nurse, it's fine.

Newborns are asleep for approx 18 hours of the 24 with 6 or 7 short awake periods. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks everyone! I'm trying to get a few things done while he sleeps and to just relax a little. He's a little more awake so far today but we'll see how the day progresses.

This happened to me a couple weeks ago. I worried like you also, but I wish I'd enjoyed it more because trust me it didn't last very long!

Yup, growth spurt. Nessa is in the middle of one too. She ate like a fiend yesterday, now she's been sleeping it off since last evening.
