Baby #1 was peanut
Baby #2 was gherkin (which would get the song, "there's a gherkin lurkin' in mama's tummy)
Baby #3 was Ickle Pickle, which turned out to be twins.

So far, "this baby" or "the baby". DS thinks a good name for the baby would be "bear", but I'm worried if we call the baby by that name DS will be upset when we use a different name after birth!

We haven't really discussed it. My guess is bean, but who knows?

I had one friend who called hers Bean/Beanie, and another who called hers Paisley. I called my firstborn "Nub" prenatally ... I had a nub in my oven. Sometimes also Nubbin.

Ack, sorry, I'm not in your DDC, I thought it was the general pregnancy board. I didn't realize until I already posted.

DD was just "baby." I'm thinking #2 feels like "sprout", but we'll see if that sticks.

The names vary throughout the pregnancy.
DD was "the little alien" and the "mutant stomach fish" amongst other things.
I also called her pokey.

Ehh...that has never really worked for us. We started out calling our first "bean", but it did not stick whatsoever. I think we just always say "Baby".

And I'm one of those people that drive others crazy by calling my in utero babies "it" instead of he or she. But what the heck? If you don't know, you don't know! Saying "it" only reflects my lack of knowledge of a specific gender.

My dad called my first ds "Bruno" just to drive me nuts. And it worked. LOL I think I just said baby.

I'm a big Philly Eagles fan. I was jumping up and down last week when they won the playoff game. My dh was giving me a hard time about the Eagles, so I covered my belly and said, "Little Donovan doesn't like that!" (Donovan McNabb is the quarterback of the Eagles.)

My dh started laughing really hard, and now I think Little Donovan is going to stick.

I'm a dork!

Mom, wife, full-time student.  And tired.  DH, DS#1 (9/99) and DS#2 (9/09), and 2 dogs.

So funny you ask this...

When DD was in utero I was in a pet store at around 14 weeks and was looking at the fish. My sister was talking about baby names when I cried out, "I know! We can name it Placostamus!"

We called her Placostamus til DH announced her name "Zoe" shortly after she was born. :

Ali - Wife to Steve and mom to Zoe - age 7, and Ezra - 17 months (9/2009)

DD #1 was Buddy, like the song about the doll in the 80s "My buddy, my buddy, my buddy, my buddy...wherever he goes I go...my buddy."

DH has already started calling this one "Remo" because we conceived on a cruise and the captain was Captain Remo. He jokes that he wants to name the baby Remo, but it has already become the nickname in utero.

Not in your DDC, but I love these discussions, so I'm adding our names:

: we called "Joey" (like the baby kangaroo).
#1 I was planning to call "Roo" (like kangaroo, but also means "two" in DH's tribal language).
#2 We had decided to call "Gamma" (as in the third letter of the Greek alphabet).

Amy loving DH 5/04, raising DD 2/05 and DS 11/09; missing my mom& my babies 6/07, 12/07; and on the side

We're calling the baby "Drüski", after my husband. If it's not a boy, I will be very surprised.

edit: we called Rory "sugarplum" because we knew she was a girl. I must be on to something with semi-gender-specific in utero names!

I was jokingly calling him/her "the zygote" for a while, as in "the zygote and I are STARVING." My husband works in medicine and he can be such an anatomy geek, so we thought this was hilarious.

Then he pointed out that now it's really a fetus, but I didn't like calling my baby "the fetus" because it sounded creepy, plus let's face it, "zygote" is a much funnier word than "fetus."

Lately I've been catching myself calling it "the kid" but more and more also by the boy name that's our current #1 pick. Somehow with each passing day, referring to the baby as him or by the boy name feels increasingly right.

DH called ds 'the lil fella' while he was in utero. We didn't really know he was a boy at that point though. We haven't called this one anything so far, but I'm sure something will sound right sooner or later.
