I keep forgetting to do them, but I totally think they're a great thing to do. Gotta figure out a way to remember...

Kegels! (Did you know that in German "Kegel" means "cone?"). My BIL visited our house after dd was born and was very confused why I had fluorescent pink labels all over my house saying "CONE."

You could put the word KEGEL in big pink letters in your signature...then every time you make a post, you'd be reminded. For me, that would be a LOT of reminders

How do you do these? I don't think I *have* those muscles? : I know that they always say "try to stop the flow or urine" but I can't do that either.

i find its easiest to do them if i attach them to something else. when i was still working, it was every time i stopped at a red light (i had to do some travel through the city for my job). now that i'm home, its every time i wash my hands after going to the bathroom which is mannnnny times a day now that i'm 37 weeks pregnant!

I hate to say it, but you're probably as weak as I am if you can't start and stop your pee. But no, we're not screwed . . . just out of shape in that area.

My first birth really screwed up my pelvic floor, so I've been seeing a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor rehabilitation.

It may be something that varies from individual to individual, but here's what she's told me. The good news is that you don't have to do 200 per day, which is a common rumor. The literature recommends between 30-80, starting at the lower end and working your way up. The bad news is that they're harder than they sound.

You have to squeeze and "lift" your pelvic floor for a full ten seconds without holding your breath. Ideally, you're engaging your muscles so fully that your lower ab muscles tense and contract. In order of difficulty, start lying down, move to sitting upright (perfect for stoplights and traffic jams), and finally to standing (perfect for waiting in long lines).

vary kegels this way -Try sets of mini-Kegels. Count quickly to 10 or 20, contracting and relaxing your pelvic floor muscles each time you say a number.

I'm only sort of DDC crashing. I'm due in late August.

I haven't been doing mine, and I know I should. Every time I vomit violently I pee my pants. And not just a little bit, either.

also crashing in from August.. I just snissed. Yeap, sneezed and peed my pants. That's the first time that's ever happened! I guess I need to get back into the habit of doing them, or buy some weights

I usually do them while I commute--2 hours a day, blech. I find them easiest to do when sitting, so I like doing them in the car. I don't always remember and have always had strong pelvic muscles due to a background in dance and yoga, but I need to get consistent now. Those stories of snissing scare me
